Nearly 3 in 4 children aged 2-4 years regularly suffer physical punishment, psychological violence at the hands of parents and caregivers. – WHO.

The United Nations World Children’s Day is commemorated on the 20th of November every year to advocate, promote and celebrate children’s rights building a better world for children. This year’s theme: INCLUSION FOR EVERY CHILD and in light of this NOIPolls reviews findings from the Child Abuse poll conducted in June 2022 which revealed that almost 9 in 10 adult Nigerians attest to a high prevalence of Child Abuse in Nigeria with at least (51 percent) polled affirming they have personally seen children undergone abusive treatment within their locality. Interestingly (49 percent) of adult Nigerians stated otherwise.

The Governance Poll is a snap poll conducted every month where Nigerians express their satisfaction or dissatisfaction on the performance of the government and as well rate their performance in various sectors (Education, Infrastructure, Economy, Environment and Climate Change amongst others). More than half (58 percent) of Nigerians have expressed disapproval of the Governments performance in the past one month. While (35 percent) approve their performance (17 percent) of Nigerians are indifferent on Governments performance. In addition, various social services have been rated; Healthcare (21 percent), Power Supply (19 percent), Conflict Resolution and Infrastructures (18 percent) respectively amongst other indices.

While only 3 in 10 Nigerians (30 percent) say they have heard of climate change, two-thirds (66 percent) say climate change is making life worse, a 24-percentage-point increase since 2020.

Findings from the poll revealed majority of adult Nigerians (80 percent) disclosed that they have collected their permanent voter’s card ahead of the 2023 general elections, (17 percent) of adult Nigerians stated they have not collected their permanent voter’s card while (3 percent) disclosed they have applied for transfer of their PVC.

Furthermore, while (7 percent) of adult Nigerians stated they are not registered to vote in the 2023 general elections, an overwhelming proportion (93 percent) of Nigerians nationwide indicated they are registered to vote.
