Denise Kendrick is co-founder, along with her husband Bruce, of Embrace Ministries in McKinney. Embrace supports foster and adoptive families as they provide homes to abused, neglected and orphaned children. Denise believes strongly in the scriptural mandate to churches to care for orphans and the poor. Part of Embrace's ministry is to assist churches in hosting Respite nights for these families (Frisco First is hosting one on April 15th - for more info go to Frisco First's website). The Kendricks have hosted 30 foster children in their home, and have nine children of their own.
Counselor Cara McLeod joins Noisy Narratives to discuss the distorted thinking patterns of magnification (making things worse/bigger in our minds than in reality), minimization (failing to recognize when something needs addressing by minimizing its seriousness), and disqualifying the positive (discounting positive attributes or growth).
Scripture references today: Philippians 4:8-9; Romans 12:2-3
Counselor Rachel Schulte joins Noisy Narratives in a conversation about the dangers of black and white thinking and making our decisions with our emotions.
