The Hamilton Sing-Along is on Disney+! To celebrate, we’re rewinding back to our extra-long Hamilton episode, featuring Gillian Pensavalle of The Hamilcast and True Crime Obsessed!

We gush about the turntable, the costumes, the voices. We dissect to the best of our ability the few musical themes we could spot. We talk (briefly and naively) about the show being an entryway into more in-depth learning and critical thinking of the founding fathers. And even after all that - we bring on the one and only Gillian Pensavalle and gush even more about having the show whenever we want it for the low, low price of $6.99 a month.

There’s really not much to say about Disney’s ‘Underdog.’ And that’s not a cliché. We literally ran out of things to say. Or perhaps more accurately, we ran out of interest in finding things to say. Be glad we kept this one short, and keep your ears perked for side discussions about AI, the mating habits of poodles, and how not to treat a cashmere sweater.

There really isn’t a whole lot to say about The New Mutants that we don’t cover in less time than they did. There’s easily about a podcast’s length of plot that was left on the cutting room floor. Josh was legitimately excited by the first trailer for this film, but corporate monopolization and global pandemics got in the way of a film that could have been good enough to overcome Charlie Heaton’s… “accent.”

If you step back really far, about 20 years back or so, you can why Smart House exists. Not exactly a star turn or a career maker for anyone involved, though Katy Sagal gives us an amazing, terrifying,  Proto-Tarunga Leela meets Theranos Beta dressed up as Small Wonder. It’s no wonder it tops so many lists when it features a giant scary robot woman. “Step on me, Mommy!” is a more common thought than we may feel comfortable admitting.

But that is a different podcast altogether.

Trust us, we’re not barking up the wrong tree, despite being inspired to watch 1976’s “The Shaggy DA” from TikTok. Questionable sourcing aside, we were absolutely delighted by this questionable classic. Did you know there’s a Medfield Cinematic Universe? Neither did we! Pretty sure they’re about as connected as late-season “Agents of SHIELD.”

Well, it seems Josh just can’t escape allergies… even when he runs up to the mountains. Ya boy has been congested and gross all week, and now sounds like a fireplace bellows with a hole in it. So rather than torturing himself for an hour (or y’all, for that matter), we decided to Rewind to one of our favorite episodes! Join us as we ruin Nina West’s favorite movie for her!

I sure hope some of y’all got to see her in Hairspray. We had the dumb luck of moving away from Austin just in time for that stop on the tour. Humbug.

Catch y’all next time when Josh’s voice is back!

You could pick any number of family comedies where “Mr. Masculine Man has to learn to care about humans that aren’t women they want to bone” that are actually worth watching. This would not number among that list. We love topless Vin Diesel. We love Brittany Snow in just about anything. Shankman? Thomas Lennon? Talents!

Watch out for that tree! We watched 1997’s George of the Jungle - the guilty pleasure of suburbandEvery now and then (we fall apart, and) accidentally hit a trend in the films we watch. Apparently we’re on a scatalogical streak with all the poop and fart jokes we’ve been experiencing lately. And we may or may not have another Nazi referenced on the podcast? Of all the undersea journeys we’ve taken with Disney over the years, this one is perhaps the most convoluted. We get it, there’s something to like here, we’re just not entirely sure what it is.

Wait - that’s not entirely true. When it comes to Dr. Sweet, we definitely get it. But where did Milo’s cat go?

Well happy Monday, friends! That’s right - we’re not lazy producers, we’re just lazy communicators. For Season 4, we’ve moved to Mondays! And what better way to really kick off a new year than by diving into yet another Muppet classic - The Great Muppet Caper! Come for Josh’s recovered childhood memories, stay for the enumerations of Gonzo’s Freakiness and a somewhat Freudian analysis of Animal. Enjoy!
