Today, as we return to the 6th Chapter of the Letter to the Hebrews, we want to look at the warning given in this chapter. Our inspired author offers an illustration of a land which has received the rain. If it brings forth a harvest, it is a clear sign of God's blessing, but if it brings forth thorns and briars, it is a sign of curse. This illustration is an important key to understanding the often-confused warning of Hebrews 6.

A we near the end of Hebrews chapter 5, the author acknowledges that while he desires to say more about Melchizedek, the readers are not ready to hear it. This is because they have grown dull in their hearing and have not properly grown as to receive these offerings of theological meat. It is a reminder of the necessity of discipleship among the people of God. We must be growing so that God can use us to help in the work of the ministry of Christ's Church.

We journey into the 6th chapter of The Letter to the Hebrews to find one of the most serious warnings in all of Scripture. Join us today as we look at this much discussed passage.

Continuing through Hebrews 5, we are reminded that Christ came into the world to save sinners. It was for this reason that Christ -learned obedience- by the things which He suffered and His -being made complete- was so that He might be the Author of eternal salvation. This mission required a perfect sacrifice and perfect High Priest- Jesus perfectly fulfilled both roles.

Moving into this important sixth chapter of the Letter to the Hebrews, we begin to see how the concerns of chapter 5 lead into the warning of chapter 6. There is an immediate call to not lay again the foundation that was already laid. The teachings that these Hebrew Christians once received are not something to which they can return (as if they are sufficient in themselves). Instead, they are a foundation that is meant to be built upon. Just as a bare foundation is incomplete, so too are these teachings if they do not lead to the finished work of Christ. To hold to an unfinished foundation is an affront to the call and revelation of God.

As we continue through Hebrews Chapter 5, we see that the incarnation was essential if Christ is to be our High Priest. It is because He came and suffered that He can minister on our behalf, having experienced our trials and weaknesses, yet never sinning. This text teaches us that the incarnation was absolutely necessary to our having a perfect High Priest. Praise the Lord for His mercy and grace-

Returning to Hebrews 5 and the perfect priesthood of Christ, we will focus on the necessary qualification of Christ's appointment as High Priest. The author of Hebrews, inspired by the Holy Spirit, refers back to Psalm 110 in order to demonstrate the appointment of Christ.

Today's Sermon concludes our journey through Holy Week from Mark's Gospel as we celebrate the risen Christ. Our text will be from Mark 16-1-8- there we will see a group of women who plan to anoint a corpse, but instead learn that it was impossible for death to hold the Lord of Life-

Our Easter Sermon for April 17, 2022. We turn to the Revelation of Jesus Christ in order to see what was revealed to John as the glorious risen Lord appears to him. Jesus reminds John that the churches are in His sovereign hands and that persecution cannot stop God from accomplishing His eternal purposes. There is a reminder here that God is in control and that we can trust Him no matter how difficult the days may seem.

As we enter the 5th chapter of the Letter to the Hebrews, we start by looking at the High Priesthood of Christ. Immediately, the author speaks of the qualifications that must be met for any legitimate High Priest- all of these qualifications were fully met by Jesus, who was appointed to His office by our heavenly Father.
