Returning to the warning that opens Hebrews Chapter 2, we find an interesting detail in the text. While warning the audience not to neglect so great a salvation, the author mentions that they heard the message from those who heard Jesus. Further, he states that their hearing of the message was accompanied by God-given signs and wonders. In this way, God was testifying to the veracity of the message. in other words, God was testifying along side the apostles. If they neglect such a message, what hope will they have?

We return to the first chapter of the Letter to the Hebrews to see the author continue to demonstrate -from the Old Testament Scriptures- that Jesus is greater than the angels. He does this in order to demonstrate that the covenant that Jesus mediated is greater than the covenant which was mediated by the angels and Moses at Sinai. Today, he will show from the Psalms that angels are created -unlike Christ- and serve as ministers -not like the Son-. Join us as we look at this fascinating text.

Returning to the second chapter of Hebrews, we find ourselves in the middle of a great warning and exhortation. Having already heard the warning to pay closer attention to the message we have heard, we are now called not to neglect so great a salvation. To make his argument, the author draws a contrast between the Law and the New Covenant in Christ. In the end, the author makes this point: if the Law, given by servants, carried punishments for those who neglected it, how much more serious will the consequences be for those who neglect God's precious Son, the Lord Jesus Christ?

We continue through the argument of Hebrews chapter one by looking at the author's quotation in verse 6. Here there is an argument presented by way of contrast which clearly demonstrates, from the Old Testament Scriptures, that the angels are called to worship Christ. The Scriptures never suggest that Christ is to worship any angel. In this way, the author makes his case for the superiority of the Son over the angels, thus the superiority of the covenant He mediates over the one for which they mediated.

As we begin Chapter 2 of this great letter, we immediately come to a serious warning. The author of Hebrews instructs that we must give the more earnest heed to the things that we have heard, lest we drift away. Drifting away is a particular danger because it is, by nature, slow and incremental. If we are not cautious, we might find that we stand far from where we once stood, never realizing how far we have drifted.

As we continue through the first chapter of Hebrews, we see that the author of this wondrous letter focuses on Christ's status as the only begotten Son of God. This is presented with two quotations from the Old Testament Scriptures and demonstrates that Christ is clearly greater than the angels- for God never called any angel His Son. Christ, the Son, is unique and glorious. He, alone, is able to save us from our sins.

As we conclude the first chapter of the Letter to the Hebrews, our attention is drawn to the ministry of angels. While verse 13 demonstrated that Christ is the reigning Lord, this verse instructs us that the angels are servants of God sent forth to do the will and work of God. Today, we will focus on what the Scriptures teach us of the ministry of these powerful spiritual beings.

As we return to the first chapter of Hebrews, we come to an interesting and important statement. The Bible states that Jesus has become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance received a more excellent name than they. Today, we will look at this text in order to understand what the author means. We will also be laying the ground work for several upcoming weeks as we look at how Christ is greater than the angels.

As we return to Hebrews chapter 1, we come to what one Scholar called the culmination of the author's argument. Here, he strikes a clear contrast with the servant status of the angels by looking to the words of Psalm 110:1. There, we encounter Christ, who is Lord, and Priest, and King! All of His enemies will be put under His feet; His people, however, will be delivered. All men will be found in one of those two descriptions- either humiliated in defeat under the feet of Christ, or exalted in victory with our great and mighty King. Which one describes you?

Returning to the opening verses of the first chapter of Hebrews, we come to another glorious statement concerning our great Christ. He is the One who by Himself purged our sins. Further, after doing this amazing redemptive work, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. In these few words is found the glorious truth of the Gospel- Christ came into the world to do for us what we could never do for ourselves. Having accomplished that redemptive work, it is fitting that the Scriptures should describe so great an exaltation-
