[HOST NOTE: THIS FIRST SECTION ABOUT KAISER CANYON CAN BE UPDATED AS NEEDED - NOTE HOST TAG]
Fire crews continue to battle the state’s largest blaze.
The Kaiser Canyon Fire in Northeastern Washington has already burned almost 80-thousand acres and is still uncontained.
Most of those acres are on the Colville [COLL-ville] Reservation and it has displaced more than one-thousand people from the area, including the entire town of Nespelem [neh-SPEE-lum].
[Meanwhile] The Red Cross is among the agencies moving quickly to set up shelters and recruit volunteers to serve people who’ve been evacuated. As KNKX’s Gary Davis reports, this fire season has relief coordinators especially worried.
