The World Cup excitement came to a head today [THURS]. Fans in Seattle got their first opportunity to watch the matches on Pier 62 and a floating barge.

KNKX Reporter Freddy Monares was there.

Senate Republicans have proposed a repeal of what's known as "the roadless rule" — by amending what had been a bipartisan bill. OPB's April Ehrlich [[ER-lick]] reports that Democrats are calling it a "Trojan horse."

Across Seattle, fans of Mexico’s national soccer team turned out at watch parties for one of the first games of the World Cup. KUOW’s Gustavo Sagrero was at one near the Seattle stadium.

Seattle leaders announced today [Thursday] they are responding to demands that they do more to address gun violence and prostitution along Aurora Avenue North.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson announced today [Thursday] that multiple streets along Aurora Avenue North will be closed at least through the summer.

This is in response to shootings in the area, which has a long history of crime and prostitution.

Washington likely won’t bring in the revenue needed to maintain current programs next fiscal year—let alone add services.
