Our very own Jonathan Parsons is a movie fan, but isn't necessarily the biggest horror movie fan. So as a part of his initiation to the Nostaljunk Podcast, he will endure our picks of the best jumpscares in horror!

Will we be successful? You'll have to listen to find out!

** Recorded August 11, 2021 **

We uncovered this discussion from our vault and decided it was time to release our URBAN LEGENDS Episode! We review some of our favorite horror movie urban legends (The Ring, The Grudge, Candyman, etc), but also uncover their origins; some are spooky and some are true crime. We also weigh-in on our overlooked horror movie urban legends -- this is a spookshow, baby!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN NOSTALJUNKIES! One of the biggest and most enduring shows of all-time, THE SIMPSONS, not only influenced our love for dysfunction, but their beloved Halloween Specials (Treehouse of Horror) are to Halloween what Hallmark movies, in PJs, with gentle sobbing are to Christmas.

Treehouse of Horror, also known as The Simpsons Halloween Specials, is a series of Halloween-themed episodes of the animated sitcom The Simpsons, each consisting of three separate, self-contained segments. These segments usually involve the Simpson family in some horror, science fiction, or supernatural setting. They take place outside the show's normal continuity and completely abandon any pretense of being realistic, being known for their far more violent and much darker nature than an average Simpsons episode. The first, entitled "Treehouse of Horror", aired on October 25, 1990, as part of the second season and was inspired by EC Comics horror tales. Since then, there have been 32 other Treehouse of Horror episodes, with one airing every year.

Which ones are your favorite?

Okay. School memories may not be positive for everyone, but some of us partied like it was 1999: listening to Limp Bizkit, wearing baggy pants, frosted tips, and flipping the Stone Cold Steve Austin bird until it lost its meaning. And what better way to celebrate the iconic School-Age growing pains, than with a list of our favorite School Movies!

We don't only discuss getting high and passing tests, losing your virginity, crushing hard on your Second Grade French teacher, or even getting frisky with a pie; we chat the nostalgia of graduating, partying, "coffee houses", and more!

We break-down our faves with our most nostalgic memories from those movies, but Matt features--of course--horror-based double-features to keep our October vibes high...
