As one of the pioneers in the comedy scene of Singapore, Umar Rana have been around the block running one of the biggest, regular live stand up comedy shows in Singapore. We reminisce on the history and the many people that had shared the stage of Comedy Masala. Umar had also share experiences in running a successful comedy show in Singapore which also had expanded to his hometown Karachi, Pakistan while recall the many times and the differences between Karachi and Singapore. 

Matt Chalmers had just started out doing comedy in the Singapore scene and have been making great strides. He recall back to the first time that he was on stage telling jokes after a medical condition, being the bigger kid in school, he started on his path of being a golf coach and him moving to Bahrain as a kid. We discuss to having the idea of discrimination or prejudice that one will have by supporting the wrong football team in Scotland.

Okay this is happening for the 3rd year anniversary for the podcast. I talked about what is going on in Singapore right now while the whole world is going on through the lockdown. I talked to a passenger about being 30 years old and the reason why I am not able to release an episode the last 2 weeks. I reflect the goals that I had for this year including the ones that I had with the podcast and standup comedy.

I am back again. After taking a hiatus from the last time I recorded a Wednesday Thing episode. I dropped in talked about the virus thing again. I talked about the lock down from different countries and how it had screwed up the part of my life that I looked forward to. I think about the propaganda video for this and consider the theory is it because it is the election season and thus this virus was created. I reflect back 30 years of my life and think about what does being an adult means to me as well. 

Brian Aylward, hailing for Newfoundland Canada had been in Asia for some time now and started the stand up scene in Seoul, Korea. Having a viral video under his belt while fulfilling his social responsibility along the way, he looks back at the idea of having like a big break and how it had been a long and distant thing. We talk a lot about the idea of hustling and what it really means while looking back at the stories that he allegedly had done. Looking back at the childhood, he reveal about  how meeting his mum again at a later stage in his life manage to able make sense of his personality.

Interesting and exciting are words that understates Dave Thompson career to say the least. Before being in the show business full-time, he had been a drama therapist then he manage to get to play Tinky Winky in the original cast of the Teletubbies, he recollects the day that he got his role in Teletubbies while trying to rationalize why he got fired from the role. He talks about the history of Teletubbies and what does the controversy behind the sexuality of Teletubbies and  the Christian group in the US. After revealing that he is a parent of a child with special needs, he went on describing the way to balance with his acting career and his personal life.

Steve Hughes was a drummer for different metal bands before becoming a stand up comic legend. We try to understand the idea of regulations which Steve Hughes finally breakdown why it is not working and mocking the idea of having Macdonald as the ambassador of the sports events in Singapore. He opens up going through maniac depression and how it had caused his relationship to breakdown with his girlfriend. He talks about suicide and why it is one of the toughest thing to do. He hates the idea of oppression and feminism and putting it into perspective on the western idea of perspective and how much it differs with what he had seen during his travels and critical thinking. Aidan Killian and Steve Hughes finally talking about going to camp with Steve finding out that being a bushman and hunting food to eat is not as easy as he and his mates thought out to be.

For this Wednesday Thing, I rant about the annoyance by the Coronavirus that had happened and how it had affected in Singapore. I am also got shocked about my age after doing the Chinese New Year thing that happened about a month ago.

Phil Kay has always been a comedian that I am always amazed at. He act is very surreal and always very high energy and I wonder how he has so many energy about it. Coming from a very conservative part of Scotland, he recounted his friend from Iran and talking about still remaining contact with the friends from his childhood. He talked about the loving side of comedy and how to tell jokes that doesn't come from dislike while the rest of us as comedians always only manage to tell jokes that annoyed us. He had his own TV Show Phil Kay Feels... in Channel 4 and be one of the first guy in Scotland to be on a whisky advertisement. He told me how he got the show and how it had ended. He also talks about how to manage a life with a child while travelling around the world doing comedy not using technology and having a relationship from gigs and being on TV.

Benny Davis is the one that started the "4 chord song" trend on Youtube. Being the founder for the music comedy band, Axis of Awesome, had a hell of a rollercoaster ride from how the band was formed and the many disputes that happened in the band which led to its demise. Benny recounted the show that he considered peak of his career and what happened to the guys who stole the whole "4 Chord Song" act in TEDx. After moving to Singapore, he compares and find the similarities between us between the Sydney and Singapore culture when it comes to schools and of course the stereotypes that we have in school.

Sundeep Rao lost his sight at a very young age and talking about on stage has been weird for him because it had created confusion to a person in the crowd. He recollect how he had lost his sight and why he was grateful that he had lost his sight when he was younger opposed to later in his life. Being a comic who uses english language as the first language in the India comedy scene, we try to break down why English isn't a thing in India and the idea of speaking fluent English can be a class issue and alienate potential audience members.
