I met Felipe outside of my gym a few weeks ago, he was holding a sign up advertising his app Amrap; a Virtual AI Trainer. If you can bear having a lot of people pass by casting judgment and not caring, you’re my cuppa tea! Felipe and Ignacio de Sande Palma Ignacio now leads product and strategy and Felipe shapes the company’s training philosophy and user experience. Their co-founder (not interviewed, or a brother), Juan, leads the technology aspect. I talk to these two about their stories, Felipe was a dentist, Ignacio an engineer. Actress, Comedian and good human Katie Novotny joins me on Not That Deep for episode 44. We actually showed up to the wrong studio, and when I say we, this is me trying to rid responsibility from myself. It was all my fault, but it turns out when things don’t go as planned, as long as the parties involved can remember it’s not that deep, all ends up OK. And that it did! Katie and I met when we both went to an open mic in LA and we conversated in the parking lot, this is how some great friendships begin so I have read. Katie has so many comedy shows lined up in New York during here time here, and when she is not here, she can be found in LA or Chicago working on her craft and pursuing / crushing acting. Katie has an incredible relationship with her family, and opens up about her moms experience withTransverse myelitis. Katie is driven in so many facets of life, and I was so lucky to be able to have her on Not That Deep. Enjoy.

Ah, where to begin, I mean... she BIRTHED me. This is my mom's second time on the podcast. She's too pretty to be confined to just audio, so had to get her in the video format (out of audio jail). We talk curly hair, loss, whoopi goldberg, and we have a very electric experience with (what we have confidence in) the other side. If you feel like I have been talking a lot about loss and grief in the last few episodes - imagine being in MY head. haha. This is my way of moving along, to talk it through with my loved ones, to share experiences, stories and laughter. Im wearing a jumper and therefore it’s time to hold that bladder. I have a raspy voice from singing some songs at K Town Karaoke the weekend prior (including but not limited to: The Wizard and I, Promiscuous, Intoxicated, Judas). I had one of the coolest interactions happen to me while filming woman on the street by Columbus Circle (which is a randuski = random place for me to be). And of course I cry at some point as grief has been at the forefront of my big old brain. And that’s okay. Spread love, smile at a stranger and compliment something you like about a stranger.

Delaney Flanagan joins me for really just a stunning episode. Delaney and I met at Gotham comedy club during a new talent night, where we both crushed in our own ways and came out stronger together. Delaney’s path is a unique one, and has led her to where she is today (I mean duh… that’s literally what a path is…. But you’ll get it once you listen). She started in real estate, moving to stand up, podcasting and content creation, to now film (directing, producing, writing, acting (quadruple threat). I’m me myself and I today, back from traveling for about 3 weeks, I touched a lot of grass, hugged a lot of trees and experienced a lot of happiness. Starting from Portland Oregon, I made the trek to Bend, Crater Lake, Redwoods National Forest, San Francisco, Morro Bay, ending up in Los Angeles. No cars were hit in the midst of this travel, no one laughed at my jokes at an open mic, and no regrets were had of how any of this came to be. I encourage everyone to solo travel at least once in your life. How do you entertain yourself? What do you like to do when the only person to consider when making a plan is…. You? Some people get re-connected with someone from high school later in life and they fall in love. That’s what happened with Will and I, platonically, of course. Will made the move to California two years ago, uprooting his life from New York and making a change for himself. He is in a fun phase of life right now, where he is exploring new paths while not being afraid to say “no”. I always have so much fun with him - he is someone that I can go to to talk deeply with, but then pivot to hysterically laughing. Not to mention, he has an amazing laugh.
