GameStop soared as much as 69.4% to a high of $72.88 on Friday, bringing its gains to more than 100% this week alone. GameStop has more than 138% of its float shares sold short, the single most shorted name in the U.S. stock market, according to FactSet. It was reported that Lil Wayne was one of the people whom Trump was considering giving a presidential pardon. Wayne did end up getting the pardon, and now he has shared a statement thanking Trump. The statement — which Wayne signed with his real name, Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. — reads, “I want to thank President Trump for recognizing that I have so much more to give to my family, my art, and my community. I also want to thank @bradfordcohen for working so diligently to secure another chance for me. Love!” The pardon was confirmed in a statement from the Trump administration yesterday. The section of the statement regarding Wayne reads: “President Trump granted a full pardon to Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., also known as ‘Lil Wayne.’ Mr. Carter pled guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, owing to a conviction over 10 years ago. Brett Berish of Sovereign Brands, who supports a pardon for Mr. Carter, describes him as ‘trustworthy, kind-hearted and generous.’ Mr. Carter has exhibited this generosity through commitment to a variety of charities, including donations to research hospitals and a host of foodbanks. Deion Sanders, who also wrote in support of this pardon, calls Mr. Wayne ‘a provider for his family, a friend to many, a man of faith, a natural giver to the less fortunate, a waymaker, [and] a game changer.'”

Kodak Black spent nearly two years in jail after falsifying documents in order to purchase a gun, but thanks to Donald Trump, he was pardoned and freed earlier this week. In celebration of his newfound freedom, the rapper released his new single, “Last Day In,” in which he addresses the pardon. “Trump just freed me, but my favorite president is on the money,” he raps on the song. “All they hatin’ presidents has become evident to me.” Once he was released, Kodak addressed Trump over Twitter, where he’s been permanently banend. “I Want To Thank The President @RealDonaldTrump For His Commitment To Justice Reform And Shortening My Sentence,” he wrote. “I Also Want To Thank Everyone For Their Support And Love. It Means More Than You Will Ever Know. I Want To Continue Giving Back, Learning And Growing.”

After weeks of anticipation, DaBaby has finally delivered his “Masterpiece” track. The Charlotte rapper previewed the cut in an Instagram video back in December, but its exact release date remained a mystery until it hit international streaming platforms on Thursday. “Masterpiece,” produced by D.A. Got That Dope, is classic DaBaby, as he delivers braggadocious lines about sex, cars, and foes. The most notable reference in the track comes in the first verse, when he recalled the events of a 2018 fatal shooting at Walmart. “I don’t know what went down at that Walmart/I don’t know what happened on that freeway,” he raps. “OK, there go DaBaby, he back now/Run it back, hey, B****, turn that on replay.”

“Detailed in the face of the warrant [are] his roles, specifically in the conduct that gave rise to the aggravated assault and the subsequent felony murder which … include him allowing the occupants of his vehicle, and him being the driver of the subject vehicle, to actually get out of the vehicle and fire multiple rounds and then drive off with those occupants,” Judge Cara Convery explained regarding the bail denial for YFN Lucci. “So based on what the court has before it, and the affidavits for all the warrants is more than enough to continue on and to find probable cause at this juncture.” YFN Lucci made his first court appearance on Friday, Jan. 16,  after turning himself into Atlanta police earlier in the week in connection with murder charges following a fatal shooting on Dec. 10. The “Everyday We Lit” rapper born Rayshawn Bennett was denied bond during his appearance and will remain in the Fulton County jail.

Juice WRLD is joining forces with Young Thug on a posthumous collaboration. “Bad Boy” is set to hit streaming services this Friday, Jan. 15, Thug announced on Instagram. This is not the first time the two have teamed up. They previously worked together on tracks including “Mannequin Challenge,” “ON GOD,” and “Red Bentley.” “Bad Boy” follows a string of posthumous Juice WRLD collaborations with The Kid LAROI (“Reminds Me of You”), Benny Blanco (“Real S****) and The Weeknd (“Smile”). In July, Juice WRLD’s estate released his first posthumous album Legends Never Die, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
