LONDON — Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2020. Now, less than a week after its release, developer CD Projekt is offering refunds as the game was plagued by poor performance and technical glitches on consoles. The Polish studio on Monday apologized via Twitter for not showing how the game played on the base versions of Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One. A big criticism in reviews of the title so far has been the discovery of bugs, crashes and freezes in the game. "We should have paid more attention to making it play better on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One," CD Projekt said. The company added it would roll out new updates over the next few months that, by February, should "fix the most prominent problems gamers are facing on last-gen consoles."

The Game Awards has finally wrapped up, celebrating the past year in the games industry and looking ahead to the year to come. There were plenty of trailers, and everyone was looking forward to learning which games the jury selected as winners for the 30 different award categories. Of course, the biggest prize was Game of the Year, and some terrific games competed for it. These included a family-friendly game, ultra-violent action games, and the latest game from a beloved indie studio. The nominees for that were Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Doom Eternal, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, Hades, and The Last of Us Part 2. It was ultimately The Last of Us Part 2 that took home the top prize. Other notable categories included Best Game Direction (it also went to The Last of Us Part 2) Games for Impact, and Innovation in Accessibility. This year's event was being held in a socially distanced manner due to COVID-19, with presenters and nominees appearing remotely. Persona 5 Strikers, an action RPG follow-up to Persona 5, will head to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam on February 23rd. The game will be available four days early, on February 19th, for those who preorder the digital deluxe version. Developer Atlus confirmed the news today, just days after its release was leaked via YouTube trailer. Persona 5 launched worldwide in 2017; an enhanced version, Persona 5 Royal, had its wide release earlier this year. Unlike the original game, which features turn-based combat, Persona 5 Strikers is an action-oriented take on the series from Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force. Strikers takes place after the events of the original story when the Phantom Thieves find their vacation interrupted by a new threat. Where Persona 5 took place strictly in Tokyo, Strikers will also take players to six different cities. In addition to early access, the digital deluxe edition of the game includes a digital artbook, soundtrack, and behind-the-scenes video. Persona 5 Strikers is already available in Japan (where it’s currently known as Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers).

KID Cudi is back with a brand new album and fans are so excited. Man on the Moon III follows its predecessor by more than a decade. The album dropped (December 11, 2020). This is the final record in the Man on the Moon trilogy. It follows his debut album Man on the Moon (2009) and it's sequel, Man on the Moon 2 (2010). Some encouragement from fellow rapper Travis Scott proved key in the development of what would eventually become the third and final entry in Kid Cudi's beloved Man on the Moon series. Speaking with Zane Lowe in an Apple Music interview, Kid Cudi said: “I just remember Travis saying something to me about my raps. He was just like, ‘Man, your raps, man. I love when you rap.’ "And I was just like, ‘Okay.’ I kept that in mind. I said, ‘Okay. Travis is saying my raps are good. "That must be something that the kids like. I’ll keep that in mind.'”

BioWare is promising that it will make more Mass Effect games. It made the announcement with a cinematic trailer during The Game Awards tonight. The trailer seems to suggest the next game may pick up after the events of Mass Effect 3. The next Mass Effect game is likely still years off. But Electronic Arts and BioWare are teasing it now to reassure fans about the future of the franchise. Mass Effect: Andromeda was a sales and critical disappointment. BioWare also had two major executives leave its ranks. But the company is promising to forge ahead with Dragon Age 4 and the next Mass Effect. This is on top of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, which is launching this spring. That collects the first three Mass Effect games into a single remastered bundle. EA and BioWare have yet to show gameplay from the Legendary Edition.

Chicago hip-hop artist Chance the Rapper has been sued by his former manager, who alleges that the artist ignored his advice and then blamed him for the poor performance of his 2019 studio debut “The Big Day.” Pat Corcoran, who also goes by Pat the Manager, claims that Chance the Rapper, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, owes him $3 million in unpaid commissions on revenue from touring, streaming, album sales and merchandise. The lawsuit was filed in Cook County on Monday. In it, Corcoran details the behind-the-scenes problems that plagued “The Big Day,” which was Bennett’s first studio album after three successful self-released mixtapes. Corcoran alleges that his former client prematurely announced the release date before the songs had been written or recorded, leaving insufficient time to complete the album. “Compounding the issue, Bennett’s recording efforts were compromised by unproductive and undisciplined studio sessions,” the lawsuit states. “Procrastination and lackadaisical effort, perpetuated by various hangers-on uninterested in the hard work of writing and recording, resulted in a freestyle-driven product of subpar quality.”

After teasing it on social media, The Kid LAROI has shared a new version of "Reminds Me of You," which posthumously features Juice Wrld. This past summer, LAROI spoke to Apple Music's New Music Daily show about his friend Juice Wrld and his then newly released song "Tell Me Why" honoring him. "When I first came to L.A., I was living with him for the first three months, before I moved my family out here and stuff like that," he said of his late mentor and his influence on him. "I was living with him, his girlfriend and all his friends. So, I guess over that time, especially, we got a lot of time to bond and kick it or whatever. We were around the house every day. And things like being in the studio, even when we weren't recording together, he would be in the studio obviously every day recording fucking a million songs. And I would go in there and just watch him and watch how he was doing shit."
