Irish Defeats Miami
Paul Atkinson, Jr. leads the Irish with 23 points and 11 rebounds
MIAMI, Fla. – What a difference 48 hours makes.
Notre Dame (15-7, 8-3) could not buy a basket against Duke and had its lowest point total of the season, but against Miami the Irish led for over 30 minutes to defeat the Hurricanes 68-64.
The Irish lead by as many as 14 points in the second half and withstood a late Miami rally to preserve the win.
Paul Atkinson, Jr. led all scorers with a game high 23 points, while Prentiss Hubb added 15 points and Dane Goodwin chipped in with 14 points.
The Irish led 30-28 at the half and outrebounded Miami in the game 37-30.
Isiah Wong led Miami (16-6, 8-3) in scoring with 18 points.
Notre Dame shot 46% from the field to Miami’s 44%, but only manages shooting 23% from behind the arc.
The Irish inside game proved to be a factor in the victory with Notre Dame scoring 44 points in the paint, while Miami scored 26 points.
With the win, Notre Dame moves into a tie for second place in the ACC.
The Fighting Irish will now travel to Raleigh to meet NC State in ACC action this Saturday. The tip at 3 p.m. E.T.
