Liz and Evan are back! After a nice long summer hiatus, Now Screaming’s 50th episode spooktacular has finally arrived! Rather than spinning the roulette as usual, Liz and Evan decided to invite some friends of the podcast into to the studio to revisit some of their favorites from the Now Screaming catalogue.

Alex Christie chose THE BABADOOK (2:19), inspiring an enlightening discussion about motherhood and reality vs. allegory, as well as a deep-dive on this year’s horror favorite HEREDITARY.

Jessica Dwyer selected Now Screaming discovery MINE GAMES (23:10) to discuss her passion for time travel in film, as well as how essential it is to stick the landing.

Hannah Thomas brought old favorite RE-ANIMATOR (39:44) to the table, and the gang got messy in their conversation about splatter gore, that unforgettable score, and the importance of having fun.

Katie MacKendrick went way back in the podcast's archives for her selection: THE AMITYVILLE HORROR (54:20), acknowledging that it's really just all about Ryan Reynolds and his abs. There was still time to talk about #realisticmicrofiche, the role of librarians in horror movies, and how popcorn horror can be a gateway into the genre.

And finally, in the best "Thank You, Wes Craven" bit Now Screaming has ever had, returning guest James Skosky presented his comprehensive thesis on WES CRAVEN'S NEW NIGHTMARE (1:09:20), leading a rousing discussion about the role of storytelling and myth in culture and proving that horror is essential to the human experience.
