About ME:

こんにちは！🙋‍♀️私は三浦未喜です。

私はアメリカハワイ州でナースプラクティショナー（NP）をしています。元々は日本生まれ、日本育ちで、聖路加看護大学（現・聖路加国際大学）を出た後、東京の大学病院で勤務したのちに、アメリカでNPになるために25歳の時に渡米しました。元々帰国子女でもないのですが、色々な戦略法を使ってアメリカの大学院を首席で卒業することができました。最終学位としてはハワイ大学からDoctor of Nursing Practice (DNP・看護実践博士)を取っています。

現在ではハワイ州にあるコミュニティーヘルスセンターおよび日系クリニックにて産婦人科及びプライマリーケア領域の診療をしている反面、ハワイ大学のNP学生の実習指導もしています。また2024年にはアメリカNP学会からそれぞれの州で一人ずつ、臨床で優秀な功績を残したNPに送られるState Award for Excellenceを受賞し、またHawai’i Association of Professional Nursesから毎年ハワイ州で看護職として優れたリーダーに与えられるLeadership Awardも受賞しました🏆

Tuition for NP school isn’t cheap, especially if you attend a private school or are an out-of-state or international student💸

Also, tuition can hike up without much notice.😱

Financial instability can be very stressful, and I experienced that first-hand as a nurse practitioner (NP) student.

There may be some scholarships offered by your university and loan repayment programs by the federal and local governments, but, federal loan programs are only for U.S. citizens and permanent residents (meaning not for international students)😢

This episode is about “How to overcome insecurities in building a nursing career.”

In our nursing career, we must learn many, MANY new things☝️

For example, in nursing school, we had to learn how to talk to patients and build a rapport with them in a minimal time. In a nurse practitioner (NP) program, you learn how to choose the proper medication for a specific disease. Even after successfully graduating from an NP school, you must learn how to build a patient panel as an independent NP.

When we face new things, it is natural to feel insecure about ourselves, but in those moments, we may get really frustrated and feel embarrassed about ourselves😣

I was born and raised and started my nursing career in a non-English speaking country (Japan), so coming to the U.S. to attend an NP school and practicing as an NP threw me many new challenges that I had to overcome👩‍⚕️

Eventually, I mastered them💪

From these experiences, I’ve learned five things we can do to overcome insecurities when facing new things.

In this episode, I’ll share these five tips so you can overcome new challenges with a stronger mindset and maximize your potential😉

About ME:

こんにちは！🙋‍♀️私は三浦未喜です。

私はアメリカハワイ州でナースプラクティショナー（NP）をしています。元々は日本生まれ、日本育ちで、聖路加看護大学（現・聖路加国際大学）を出た後、東京の大学病院で勤務したのちに、アメリカでNPになるために25歳の時に渡米しました。元々帰国子女でもないのですが、色々な戦略法を使ってアメリカの大学院を首席で卒業することができました。最終学位としてはハワイ大学からDoctor of Nursing Practice (DNP・看護実践博士)を取っています。

現在ではハワイ州にあるコミュニティーヘルスセンターおよび日系クリニックにて産婦人科及びプライマリーケア領域の診療をしている反面、ハワイ大学のNP学生の実習指導もしています。また2024年にはアメリカNP学会からそれぞれの州で一人ずつ、臨床で優秀な功績を残したNPに送られるState Award for Excellenceを受賞し、またHawai’i Association of Professional Nursesから毎年ハワイ州で看護職として優れたリーダーに与えられるLeadership Awardも受賞しました🏆

Having a good work-life balance is crucial to have a fulfilling life☝️

But building a solid nurse practitioner (NP) career itself already comes with a lot of challenges, and it can be difficult to balance with your personal life😣

I learned this in a hard way when I was in a DNP program while working full-time as an NP, and over the year, I finally figured out how to create a work-and-life balance that makes me happy☺️

I currently work at two clinical sites, own and run a business, and play two leadership roles at national and state levels, but still get to go on a vacation at least every 3 months, go surf 2-3 times a week and hang out with my partner and friends regularly🏖️✈️🏄‍♀️

In this episode, I share 7 things that I practice on my own to have an amazing career while doing things to make myself happy✨

About ME:

Hi I’m Miki Miura, DNP, APRN, FNP-C👋

I’m a family nurse practitioner (FNP) in Hawaii, USA.

I was born and raised in Japan🇯🇵. I moved to the U.S. to become an NP when I was 25 years old after working as a registered nurse in Japan✈️

English is my second language, and becoming an NP in the U.S. as a foreign-born international student wasn’t easy. But, I was able to achieve my dream as well as many dreams that I couldn’t even imagine before, which include being awarded the State Award for Excellence for the State of Hawaii by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in 2024🏆

My mission is to empower nurses from all over the world to achieve their dreams of building successful and fulfilling nurse practitioner careers✨

One of my mottoes is “WORK HARD, PLAY HARD” (which, by the way, is my favorite phrase I learned from American culture😄). While I see patients at two clinical practices, run an online coaching business, and do many other things, I surf three to four times a week🏄‍♀️ and go on a vacation every three to four months🏝️

This ideal work-life balance is possible for you….if you learn how to study/work smart!!!💪
