Bekasi, Indonesia – Shaky nighttime footage recorded by X user gigi captures the tense moments just before and during the deadly train collision at Stasiun Bekasi Timur.
One video shows local men gathered near the tracks behind a red-and-white barrier, watching a long, brightly lit passenger train either stopped or moving slowly under strong station lighting. Additional clips, filmed from a nearby residential balcony, show train cars halted or creeping forward in the dark, their windows illuminated as red and green signals glow in the background.
Residents, including a woman and child, can be seen observing anxiously as the handheld camera shakes and follows the unfolding scene.
The footage was shared with a caption describing a very loud bang heard from the house and suspicion that a train had been hit. It was recorded around the time of the tragic incident on the night of April 27, 2026.
The high-speed Argo Bromo Anggrek express train, traveling from Jakarta/Gambir toward Surabaya, rear-ended a stationary KRL Commuter Line train bound for Cikarang. The KRL had stopped after an earlier collision with a taxi at a nearby level crossing.
The force of the impact severely crushed the rear women-only carriage of the KRL.
As of April 28, at least 14 to 15 people were killed, all from the affected carriage, while 84 to 88 others were injured and taken to multiple hospitals. Rescue teams continued working to free victims trapped in the wreckage, as rail services in the Bekasi–Cikarang corridor were disrupted.
The footage offers a raw, ground-level view of the chaos as the disaster unfolded, marking one of Indonesia’s most serious rail incidents in recent years.
