The Federal Reserve cut its key interest rate for the third time this year, by a quarter of a percentage point. U.S. stocks tumbled to one of their worst days of the year after the Fed hinted that there would be fewer rate cuts next year.

The House Ethics Committee voted to release its report on former Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz, which involves allegations of sexual misconduct. Gaetz responded, saying he is innocent and fully exonerated by the Justice Department.

The Supreme Court agreed to take up TikTok's challenge to delay a law that could potentially ban the app on January 19. The justices will hear oral arguments on January 10.
