Beryl weakened to a tropical storm, after making landfall in south Texas as a Category 1 hurricane. The storm system killed two people, knocked out power for over 2.7 million customers, and caused over 1,300 flight cancellations.

Ukrainian officials said Russian missile strikes killed at least 36 civilians in cities across Ukraine. Russia denied the claims, saying it targeted defense industry facilities and aviation bases.

No political party won a majority in France’s run-off parliamentary elections. A left-wing coalition finished in first place with President Emmanuel Macron’s Ensemble coming in second, and Marine Le Pen’s National Front party in third.
