Nearly 300 people are reported dead after an Air India flight bound for London crashed into a residential neighborhood. India’s interior minister visited the lone survivor in the hospital Thursday. President Donald Trump called the crash “one of the worst in aviation history” and offered immediate U.S. assistance if needed. Investigations into the cause of the crash are underway.
Trump signed measures Thursday to overturn California’s electric vehicle mandate, which aimed to end the sale of gasoline-only cars in the state by 2035. The move has sparked legal challenges. During the bill signing, Trump also referenced his relationship with Elon Musk in relation to the issue.
The House on Thursday approved a measure codifying Trump’s request to cancel funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting. The legislation rolls back more than $9 billion previously approved by Congress, including funds for PBS and NPR. The rescissions package passed in a 214–212 vote and now heads to the Senate, where it needs a simple majority to pass.
