In his keynote address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, President Joe Biden defended his foreign policy. The address also served as Biden’s farewell speech to the international stage as president. The annual meeting comes amid the wars in Ukraine and Gaza. Biden called for a cease-fire in the Israel–Hamas war, lamenting the deaths on both sides.

In the Middle East, Israel said it killed a top commander with Hezbollah’s missile and rocket unit as the Israeli military traded fire with Hezbollah again. Meanwhile, the death toll from a massive Israeli bombing campaign has climbed to nearly 560 people.

Former President Donald Trump is campaigning in Savannah, Georgia. He pitched a new economic plan, which includes attracting other countries’ factories to the United States and creating what he called new “American industrialism.” Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris said in a radio interview in Wisconsin that she supports ending the filibuster to codify Roe v. Wade.
