President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance will attend ceremonies on Friday to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people on Sept. 11, 2001.

The events will honor the 2,977 people killed after al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners and flew them into the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon, while one plane crashed in a Pennsylvania field.

The president and First Lady Melania Trump are expected to attend the annual ceremony at the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial in Arlington, Virginia.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and will include a reading of the names of the 184 people killed when American Airlines Flight 77 was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony will also feature remarks from the president.

While the president is at the Pentagon, Vance will be at the Ground Zero ceremony held at New York City’s 9/11 Memorial Plaza.

This year’s ceremony, which will begin at 8:40 a.m., will feature a reading of the names of the 2,983 individuals killed in the 2001 attacks, and the bombing of the World Trade Center on Feb. 26, 1993.

President Donald ‌Trump told a crowd gathered in Dallas, Texas, Wednesday night that ‌he will issue a $5,000 ⁠dividend to every adult citizen in the United States if Republicans secure a majority in Congress ⁠on Nov. 3. The president cited the United States’ strong economy that is “making so much money” as the reason he was able to make such a promise.

Pennsylvania’s Democratic senator made a surprise video appearance in Dallas on Wednesday night in front of a sea of Republicans at the GOP midterm convention. In a short video message, Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) condemned the rise of socialist politicians in the United States and welcomed his Republican counterpart, Sen. Dave McCormick, as the next speaker.

U.S. President Donald Trump signed a series of executive orders on Sept. 8 to ban imports of certain Canadian goods into the United States, including most alcoholic products, certain dairy products, and motorcycles.

Among the newly banned Canadian products are certain alcoholic drinks including beer and various types of wines and spirits, non-alcoholic beer, whey products, and motorcycles.

U.S. forces launched new strikes targeting multiple Iranian tankers on Sept. 8, marking the latest kinetic engagement in the multi-month armed standoff. U.S. ⁠Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters that the United States would continue to strike Iranian oil tankers in retaliation for any attempted attacks on U.S. warships.

The 26-year-old Russian émigrés and piano doctoral student at Temple University competed with contestants from across the globe, performing Baroque, Classical, and Romantic period pieces.

Investigators say they recovered the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder from an Amazon Prime Air cargo plane that crashed at Miami Airport on Sunday, killing five people. The recordings are expected to be downloaded on Tuesday, according to NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy. The plane crashed into a van carrying seven people from an airline cleaning crew, after overrunning the runway by about 1,300 feet.

Canada’s counter-tariffs on American goods, ranging from seafood to furniture and worth $20 billion, went into effect just after midnight on Sept. 8 as Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney sought to hit back following the collapse of trade talks last month. Canada says its tariffs match Washington’s dollar for dollar, and cover about 6 percent of the $333.6 billion the United States exported to Canada last year.

U.S. forces say they sank a drug vessel tied to the Ecuadorian narco-terrorist group Los Choneros. SOUTHCOM says the vessel operated as a refueling station to support drug trafficking operations at sea in the Eastern Pacific.

The vessel was cleared and its crew disembarked before they sank it, according to the military, and the people aboard will be transferred to Ecuadorian authorities. The Los Choneros cartel was designated a foreign terrorist organization by the State Department last week.

An Amazon cargo plane went off a runway at Miami International Airport on Sept. 6, hitting multiple vehicles and leaving at least five people dead. Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins said in a news conference that five more people are injured. Amazon is still gathering details about what happened, company spokesperson Kelly Nantel said. The Federal Aviation Administration said it will investigate the crash.

The Republican Party will hold a first-of-a-kind midterm convention in Dallas this week. The two-day convention begins just after Labor Day on Monday, when campaigns typically start their final sprint toward Election Day.

"President Trump turns out voters like no other candidate, and this convention will provide the momentum needed to expand our majorities in November," Republican National Committee spokesperson Natalie Baldassarre said in a statement.

Nepal held a day of mourning Monday to remember those killed in the Aug. 26 floods, with flags lowered at government offices and families concluding mourning rituals. Monday was the 13th day since the flooding which killed more than 1,300 people in Nepal and Tibet and left some 5,000 missing, including foreigners, according to Nepal’s disaster management agency.

In predominantly Hindu Nepal, mourning periods last 13 days, during which close family members stay home and relatives visit to pay their respects. Rituals are held on the final day to pray for the souls of the departed.

Vice President Vance on Thursday said the U.S. is increasing pressure on Iran. Speaking at a White House press briefing he said that "everything that could happen is on the table,” including economic pressure, military pressure, diplomatic pressure and covert pressure.

The F-B-I added three fugitives to its ‘Most Wanted Fraudsters list’ bringing the current roster to 12 people accused of major fraud. The bureau launched the new list in June, highlighting cases involving millions of dollars in alleged fraud. FBI Director Kash Patel says the F-B-I will continue targeting major fraud cases around the world, saying, “we're not slowing down."

Rescuers in Nepal pulled two workers alive from a hydropower tunnel Friday as emergency teams continued an operation to reach others believed to be trapped inside, officials said. The two men were rescued from the Trishuli 3A tunnel nine days after floods devastated towns and swept away villages in Nepal on August 26.

Speaking at a dinner at the Rose Garden on Wednesday, President Trump said communism “never worked” as he gave a renewed warning ahead of the November midterms. The President said that he would defeat what he called the democrat communists.

“They were supposed to hit socialism and then go communist,” said President Trump. “But they skipped socialism. They went right down to the bottom, and the bottom is communism, and it's never worked under different names.”

Federal immigration authorities arrested nearly 51,000 illegal immigrants throughout the United States in August, a record for a single month, the Department of Homeland Security said Wednesday.

The total of 50,925 caps a steady three-month growth in Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests, surpassing June and July totals of 43,900 and 50,208, respectively.

U.S. lawmakers are standing with Joshua Wong, a prominent figure in Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement. Wong now faces an additional prison term after his second conviction Wednesday under a draconian Beijing-imposed national security law.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded in a post online, writing: "Beijing’s unjust prosecution of Joshua Wong is an appalling abuse of power. Everyone who truly cares about democracy should be proud to stand with him and the people of Hong Kong.”

She added, “Advocacy for freedom is not a crime and the international community must immediately demand his release.”

In a post on X, the Select Committee on China wrote: “Joshua Wong – already in prison on one baseless charge – was set to be released in 2027. Now, the CCP is keeping him behind bars even longer on yet another baseless charge. Joshua must not be allowed to languish in prison. He must be released immediately.”

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the latest U.S. attack on Iran was justified and warned of bigger strikes if Tehran retaliated. President Trump, in a Truth Social post, said the U.S. military was striking Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday in retaliation for Iran's failed attempt at adding sea mines to the Strait and for shooting eight missiles at a U.S. military base in Jordan.

Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) easily fended off a primary challenge from Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), who made the 80-year-old progressive senator’s age a top issue. The Associated Press called the race for Markey at 8:31 pm on Tuesday night. With just three percent of the vote counted, Markey led with 74.2 percent to Moulton’s 25.8 percent. The race was an outlier from the norms seen in Democratic races this cycle.

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said on Tuesday that he expects Venezuela’s oil production to more than double under new agreements with foreign oil companies. Wright posted on X that he had arrived in Caracas on a state visit for “advancing new energy deals” and “strengthening energy security” across the hemisphere.

The White House released details on Monday about an agreement that would give the United States access to 65 billion barrels of Venezuela’s oil reserves. The deal was brokered by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez through a partnership with private businesses, according to an Aug. 28 post by President Donald Trump.

A Utah judge has set a hearing for Tuesday to consider whether the high-profile case against conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin, Tyler James Robinson, 23, should go to trial. Judge Tony Graf Jr. also must weigh whether to uphold seven charges against Robinson, including one carrying a potential death sentence.

Rescue teams with search dogs combed through mud, rocks and debris Tuesday in Nepal and Tibet looking for thousands of people still missing after catastrophic flooding tore through communities across the Himalayas, leaving more than 1,000 dead. Nepal’s disaster agency said Tuesday that 987 deaths had been counted there, with 3,916 people missing, including 583 foreigners.

U.S. Forces struck two Iranian rocket launchers loaded with sea mines on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Aug. 30. The strikes were an attempt to protect operations in the crucial waterway after CENTCOM completed the clearing of sea mines from the strait’s international shipping routes last week.
