In Episode 119 we start off with a review of the weekend’s rugby,
with England labouring to a win over Japan’s Brave Blossoms and Wales beating Portugal in Nice (as well as the usual review of the dining delights on the Cote D’Azur!), whilst Fiji’s win against Australia puts Eddie Jones’ team at risk of not making the quarter finals.
In Tennis it was a win for GB against France that now sets
the team up for a tie against Serbia in the Quarter Finals, and in football we look ahead to this week’s European competitions, as well as the continuing form of Manchester City in the Premier League.
We bring you the results from the Athletics Diamond League Finale in Eugene – with double wins for Jakob Ingebritsen and Shericka Jackson, world records in the Men’s Pole Vault and Women’s 5,000m and another silver (and another 800m British record) in Keely Hodgkinson’s ever growing collection.
In Singapore Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz led from start to finish
on the Marina Bay street course to end Max Verstappen’s winning run – although the Dutch driver is still 139 points clear in the driver’s championship standings.
Following our speculation as to whether Wakefield could
spring a surprise relegation escape in Rugby League, their demise was confirmed with one game to go, after a golden point extra-time defeat to Leigh, whilst at the top the battle between Saints, Catalan and Wigan for the league leaders’ trophy goes to the final week.
And in NFL we had the first Irishman in 38 years playing, as Punter Dan Whelan made his debut for the Green Bay Packers.
Another episode packed full of sporting delight.
