In their first(!) journey to the year 2000, Andrew and Dan encounter a musical landscape that has all of the bad stuff from the 90s (spiked hair) but none of the scary stuff from the 2000s (war on terror). It's a strange world, where only the most savage of gardens can climb to the top of the charts with a song so commercial viable it sounds like it was written by AI.

This week's episode might hold the record for longest title, but we'd expect nothing less from the 1940s, an era when every man had an orchestra and every orchestra had a random lady singer. Andrew and Dan are about to learn at least 2 facts about this Glen Gray hit, but not until they meticulously comb through this year's Oscar nominations. Because that's what this show is in a nutshell!

Our old friend Stevland returns to the show to share with us his very spooky superstitions (black cats, broken mirrors, etc), as Andrew and Dan revisit a year they can't seem to leave behind, 1973. Eagle eared listeners might be able to tell this episode was recorded a few days early, specifically during the part where Andrew and Dan make asses of themselves talking about the Oscar noms like they haven't already been released. 

Firmly back in the "and his orchestra" era, Andrew and Dan go DEEP on this song from the early days of the charts that incontrovertibly IS a song. You legally can't say that it isn't. They also learn a bit about the legendary Artie Shaw, who by his own account was a Grade-A psycho. It's a classic ep!

Once again, the wickedly talented Adele (Dazeem) returns to the show with a big ol' stankin hit that absolutely destroyed the charts and forced Billboard to rebuild from nothing. Unfortunately, to hear this song Andrew and Dan must travel to a famously very bad year that actually was the reason for all the bad things have ever happened on earth. But this is what we do in order to say...Hello!

We're talking movie plots. We're talking plucky little bass lines. And you know we're talking about that weird conman Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks).
