Is there a connection between obesity and Alzheimer's? There's been a lot of research lately on lifestyle choices and our risk of Alzheimer's. It seems like there may be a link.
Recent research suggests a potential link between obesity and Alzheimer's disease. Obesity is associated with chronic inflammation, insulin resistance, and vascular dysfunction, which may contribute to the development of Alzheimer's pathology. Studies have shown that obesity increases the risk of cognitive decline and accelerates the progression of Alzheimer's.
Additionally, obesity-related factors, such as high cholesterol and impaired glucose metabolism, can impair brain function and promote the accumulation of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles, hallmark features of Alzheimer's disease. Maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle could potentially reduce the risk of Alzheimer's.
