Ike Baker of ARCANVM Podcast joins us to talk about his work, including traveling to Egypt, his presentations, podcast, and books. Ike Baker is one of the most prolific and important voices in Western esotericism. I have respect and admiration for what this man does and is. He is, in my personal opinion, one of the most accurate and accessible authors / presenters of topics in the realm of Western esotericism. I also highly recommend Baker's first book, A Formless Fire as perhaps the single best tome about Western esotericism that I've ever read.

I also owe Ike an apology because, due to my own negligence, I'm posting this interview many months after I'd intended to do so. I am sorry for that and also grateful to offer you this wonderful conversation, better late than never.

About Today's Guest: American gnostic, Lance Kennedy, talks about The Book of the Scribe (https://www.amazon.com/Book-Scribe-Lance-Kennedy/dp/1917646631). We also talk extensively about Lance’s spiritual journey that includes Christian Evangelism, Thelema, Islam, Freemasonry, and Scientology. We also spend time discussing the occult roots of Mormonism, and much, much more! Talking with Lance provided an incredible portrait of a truly American spiritual journey filled with longing, learning, magic, and mystery. It was a real pleasure to explore his journey with him.

"In The Book of the Scribe, a Western crisis meets a powerful scriptural vision for a cultural and spiritual resurgence. A sweeping cosmic myth forms the Foundation, weaving humanity’s fate into the eternal conflict between All – the creative source – and None – the force of negation. Emergent from these mythic vistas, the Key lays out a concise moral blueprint for forging disciplined communities, anchored in honor, self-reliance, and the relentless pursuit of higher purpose. Drawing on an archeofuturistic perspective, the text champions ancient heroism without discarding the promise of modern innovation. It exhorts readers to transcend mortal illusions through rigorous martial training and cosmic awareness, forging “Cities of the Scribe” where justice, merit, and unity prevail. At the center stands the Scribe: a prophet-warrior whose journeys into other realms illuminate the path to transcendence. Bold, mystic, and unapologetically militant in its call to personal mastery, The Book of the Scribe offers a new covenant for those seeking to rekindle the West’s heroic spirit and fulfill its cosmic destiny."

This interview really is a fascinating and very personal journey into Lance Kennedy’s spiritual path, exploring one man’s search for meaning and divinity that has very immediate and accessible relevance to our own path(s). With the energy, exuberance, and fire that Lance brings to bear, you’ll certainly enjoy this wide-ranging conversation!

"Lance Kennedy (b. 1987) is a seventh-generation Texan and American of colonial heritage. A former U.S. Army major and Assistant U.S. Attorney, he holds degrees from Harvard, UT Austin, and SMU, plus advanced training in Western esotericism. He merges spirituality, philosophy, and politics into a cohesive framework for civilizational renewal."

I am immensely impressed by Kennedy’s work and vision in The Book of the Scribe. In what reads to me as a received or inspired text, the book conveys a sense of purification, discipline, purpose, renewal of spirit, and rededication that I feel is refreshing, clear, lucid, and beneficial. It recollects the majesty of ancient wisdom while still appreciating modernity and technology in its proper context. This is one of the first spiritual books I’ve read that made me feel like it’s possible to move forward into an age of wonder without abandoning the project of modernity altogether.

The second part of this brilliant interview with Lance Kennedy, which is about J.P. Lund’s book, The War of the Rose and Cross, is available at https://chamberofreflection.com/. This is the story of a brilliant magical thesis, an occult mentorship, a dying man’s final request, and the controversy which surrounded its publication.
