Odd Dad Out

It's Valentine's Day! For some it's a time to get romantic and maybe shower your significant other with gifts. For me, it's kinda complicated. First off I have no clue what to get my wife. All of the standard gifts either wont work or are too expensive. That and I'm just too financially practical to justify spending the money for a lot of things.
Then I get into my kids' outright refusal to clean their bedrooms, even to the point of doing other chores that they aren't responsible for, just so they don't have to do the ones that they are.
Finally, another founding member of the Podfix network has announced their ending. We're saying goodbye to "Weird With You."

Continuing the saga of my back yard, this week I finally got a landscaper hired. I also give a little insight into why the show has been so inconsistent for the last few weeks. This week, I decided to flex my daddy DIY skills and install a few ceiling fans in the house. Unfortunately I've never actually done it before, and my arms are sore AF. Ironically, while I'm being so productive in one way, I'm also being lazy because we just bought a robot vacuum.

Updates:
I’ve decided to keep the podcast at it’s current home of odddadoutpodcast.com. That’s mostly because I’m pretty sure changing it will break every link I’ve shared for the show in the last 2 years.


Odddadout.com will eventually get built into a home page for all of my various endeavors under the ODO brand. (Excuse me I think I just threw up in my mouth a bit.) This will obviously include the podcast, but also podcast editing at ODO Voice Productions, voice acting, audiobook narration and all that fun stuff I do.


For the time being, I am going to drop the “BS From The News” segment from the show. Among other reasons, it is the one part of the show that causes me the most stress and work. I’ve also gotten some feedback regarding how I cover some things and, as much as I’m kind of an asshole, I’m not that kind of asshole.

This week I have my conversation with Paul Przytula from "the Countdown Movie and TV Reviews) podcast. This was originally recorded as part of NAPODPOMO, but I just got too busy to put it together. I'm not gonna lie, I do way too much of the talking in this episode. This is a prime example of why I should have talking points for guests, if only to shut myself up. I need to get Paul back on sometime so I can do less of the talking. Either way, enjoy!

Paul hails from Perth, Australia and co-hosts “the Countdown Movie and TV Reviews” podcast with school friend Wayne Aroozoo. You could call Paul the “straight man” in the team, as he is usually the more level headed one. This may be because of his day job as a mental health professional, or just because he’s really just that cool.

So it’s day 25 of NAPODPOMO and I am at episode 21. In so many words, I don’t think I’m making it to 30 this year.

This whole adventure of NAPODPOMO is a beast to pull off. In the past I’ve been able to just knock out episodes quickly on a whim. But this year I got the idea in my head to do a bunch of interviews. And then the opportunity came up to buy a house. And I was stupid and didn’t edit any of the interviews as I went, so I’ve still got a bunch of long ones to do by this saturday for the finale. And I’ve still got work, and podcast editing work, and kids, and packing, and oh yeah Thanksgiving!

Honestly, I was just too ambitious with it this year. I’ll try again next year because I’m still crazy. But I’m not about to try doing a ton of interviews unless I can keep them stupid short.
