  • ODO 91: Camels and Peacocks and Ghosts, Oh My!
As usual, I'm generally tired. This week though I have a better than normal reason. I've got a jam packed news segment ranging from camel botox to "emotional support peacocks." A couple stories throw me into kind of mini rants including the "Jackass Of The Week." This week's featured podcast comes from the host of a previously featured show. It's the return of Darel "Big D" Smith and his wife, Cindy, with Smoke and Mirrors.

  • ODO 89: Jury Duty and A Trip To China
Good news everyone! I've got jury duty this week! And it's not the first time either. Somehow the news took me on a strange trip through China. Varmints!
    http://www.blazingcariboustudios.com/shows/varmints/

"The Varmints podcast is an education/comedy podcast that's all about animals! And who better to teach you than two nerds named Paul and Donna? They aren't exactly animal experts. More like animal enthusiasts. Anyway, every week they do a whole bunch of research to educate themselves and you the listener on all things that creep, crawl, slither, fly, hop and swim on this planet one animal at a time. It's just like one of those fancy nature documentaries on PBS except without David Attenborough. Or any kind of expertise. Or fancy, polished production values by viewers like you. They might make tote bags someday, though."

With all that variety of twisted stuff, this week's Recommended Listening feature goes to "Twisted Philly."

The newest food fad coming out of California is what they're calling Raw Water." That would be, unfiltered, untreated, spring water, which costs as much as $15 a gallon. -Logan Paul and the Suicide Forest
YouTuber (idiot) Logan Paul and his crew, while shooting footage for his channel in Japan's "Suicide Forest," stumbled across the deceased body of a man hanging in the forest. Rather than stop filming (like decent people), they continued filming and turned it all into just another video for his YouTube channel, even as far as asking for likes at the end. After public pressure, he later took the video down and issued an apology, but even his apology video had ads running so that he could make money from it.

  • New Year, Same Stupidity: ODO 87
Happy New Year! This week's news shows that just because the year is new, doesn't mean that the stupidity has changed one bit. I've got an ignorant burglar, an idiotic driver, a bunch of people who just didn't get a joke, and even more stupidity. Plus I rattle on about New Year's and my birthday and all the little side tangents that those take me to. In Recommended Listening I've got something a little spooky, a little creepy, and a whole lot of silly with "The Unseen Hour."

  • Yule Time, Christmas Shopping, and New Ideas For 2018: ODO 86
This week I'm breaking format completely. No news, no Jackass Of The Week, no Recommended Listening. I'm going old school for the last show of the year and just vamping. I get into my returning to work while healing from my rib injuries, what we did for our Yule holiday, checking out Christmas lights, trying to go shopping on Christmas Day, and what I want to do with the show for next year.

In 2018 I would like to start using the Recommended Listening segment to feature podcast submissions from listeners. I can only suggest so many shows personally, and I want to hear what you are listening to. Send me you recommendations/ reviews either written or in audio form to [email protected]. I am turning the segment over to you, dear listener. As a bonus, if you submit a feature to me for the show, I will put all of those together and draw one out to win some Odd Dad Out Swag.

Happy New Year! I hope to see you in 2018. Thank You and Goodnight...

  • ODO 85: I Wish You An Odd Christmas
Since Christmas is coming up next week, and the news has a serendipitous way of picking my show themes, this week I'm talking all about Christmas. Around Our house we don't exactly do "Christmas." We celebrate Yule, which is the holiday that most Christmas traditions originate from. The news brings tales of twisted stuffing, Christmas eyebrows, tiny cows and more. In place of a regular "Recommended Listening" segment, I'm serving up a list of slightly twisted holiday episodes from some of my favorite podcasts.

  • MDC 34: Breaking a "Funny" Bone
Backstory time! Since the last episode, Adam has gone through a wave of illness and injury that has lasted for over a month.
What started as a flu that the whole house had, turned into a sinus infection. After a wave of antibiotics and prednisone, the infection was gone but the cough had gotten worse. A stabbing side pain led to a trip to urgent care and the discovery of a cracked rib. A new prescription for codine cough syrup hoped to relieve the cough and help the rib heal. It didn't help. Back to the Dr. with a new rib fracture. This time came with a new wave of cough treatments including tessalon perles to help the cough, symbicort to open up the lungs, and Aleve for the pain. Now, after over a month, it finally looks like things are getting under control.
On the more positive side of things, it's the holiday season. We recently placed our amazon order for the boys gifts and ouch is that a hard number to see all at once. We have a system so that the boys all have an equal number and type of gifts. Something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read. It also helps with when grandparents want to buy things because we already have an amazon wish list set up along those guidelines.
Things have been good with the boys. Bug turned 4 and got his latest set of shots. He was definitely not happy about that. Sam has been growing his vocabulary and been using more short sentences. Damien has been doing great in school. We've all but thrown out Charlie's contract because he wont keep up with it.
ReAnna's last words this week: a joke barely worthy of a Laffy Taffy. If you think it's funny, or if you agree with Adam and can't roll your eyes hard enough, let us know on the Mom and Dad Cuss Facebook page. Thank you everyone and we'll catch you next time.

  • #NAPODPOMO Day 28- Internet Outage and Bacon Mac
What happened to yesterday? Long story short, our internet was down.
Tonight I decided to actually try doing bacon mac for dinner, because why not. The boys seem to like it. Guess that's one for the menu now.
I'm gonna go ahead with last week's plan for an all Jackasses news segment on the main show this week.I think they all deserve the ridicule this time around.
