In this episode collaboration with Sadie from the Sadie Has No Friends podcast, we dive deep into one of the strangest love stories (if you can call it that) in true crime history. Meet Carl Tanzler, a man who took “till death do us part” a little too literally. Picture this: a German-born radiologist falls madly in love with a beautiful, young tuberculosis patient in the 1930s. Romantic, right? Except for the small detail that after her untimely death, Carl decides that their love story isn’t over. Nope, he wasn’t letting a pesky thing like mortality stop him. What follows is a bizarre tale of obsession, devotion, and...well, we’ll just say extreme preservation efforts. Is it love? Is it madness? Or just a case of Carl not knowing when to let go (seriously, dude)? Join us as we unravel the twisted and morbidly fascinating case of Carl Tanzler, a man whose love truly knew no bounds—even the grave wasn’t enough.Tune in, but maybe don’t eat while listening to this one. Trust us.
