Introducing Liam Sammons! 

Liam is the secretary of his FFA chapter in St. Johnsville, New York.  He is raising Leghorn chickens and selling eggs.  He is extremely innovative in the way that he is using technology.  He is using Google Documents through email to take orders for his eggs.  Also, he is using solar panels to power his chicken coops.

Many of the innovations that Liam has put into play were funded by his award of a $1,000 SAE grant.  He has a great business model and continues to grow.

Liam dreams of being an maritime engineer and designing ships.  I can't wait to see what he builds.  I hope you enjoy getting to know Liam Sammons!

Introducing Wyatt Standridge!  Wyatt is the supervisor of his high schools chrysanthemum production facility.  You can see him above applying a chemical to the plants at his school. All during the summer he has to manage the facility and keep the plants growing and healthy.  Then he coordinates a sale that will take this place this fall, going through October.  He coordinates much of the business side of the sale as well, when they reach that time of year. Wyatt is also his chapter's reporter and quickly becoming an ambassador for what his chapter is doing. Introducing Ashley King! 

Ashley is an exceptional gardner!  In her first year competing in her county fair she won numerous awards for individual vegetables as well as her horticultural display.

Ashley has a garden at both her mother and father's home in Missouri.  In addition, she is homeschooled and takes online high school courses but finds a way to participate in agriculture and the FFA through the Boonslick Technical Center in Booneville, Missouri.

You can hear the smile on her face while we are doing the interview, and I think you are going to really enjoy getting to know Ashley.

OFI 180: Life Is Good On The Farm, Except For The Virus That Hattie Brought Home From School!

KEY POINTS: 

Well everyone, the last few days of this week have found me under the weather.  After dealing with the "have to get done" farm chores, I am just wiped out!  So, I had to decide, do I do a third episode this week even though I do not have the energy to prep appropriately?

Well, there are two schools of thought on this.  One school says you should not produce content for the sake of producing content - " your fans won't like that."  The other school says you should be regular and consistent so your listeners know they can rely on you.

I decided to produce an episode and just go "off the cuff."  Talking to all of you is a very bright spot in my week, and I needed that bright spot in a week where I'm feeling pretty bad.  Also, I'd like to get interviewed about this podcast at some day and be able to say that "I've never missed an episode."  So, here I am.

Even with being sick this week, there are a lot of good things going on in our business and on our farm.  I thought this would be a good opportunity to share with you some of the excitement of the lifestyle that I am now realizing.
