  • An Important Episode - Critical Incident Stress Management with Dr. Janet Childs

    Send a text

Today, the guys sit down with Dr. Janet Childs, Critical Incident Stress Management expert.  Anyone can be faced with stress and critical incidents, and this is especially true for healthcare workers, first responders, dispatchers, and the military. How do we handle that?  How do we process the feelings, emotions, and impact to others?

Garrett has professional and educational experience on the subject and John approached this topic with open arms and an open mind.  The interview was absolutely incredible.  The guys hope anyone who listens to this episode can reflect on stress and critical stress management.  Despite the serious subject, they were also able to share stories and laughs as well.

The guys would like to dedicate this episode to everyone who works on their CISM (critical incident stress management) team and remind everyone that they are not alone.

Please like and share this important episode!

  • Dr. Taher: Emergency Medicine Enlightened!

    Send a text

The guys are back, sitting down with the incredible Dr. Taher, emergency room physician at Good Samaritan Hospital and an EMS Medical Director in the Silicon Valley.

The guys thought they would be right at home in their old stomping grounds of discussing emergency medicine, but Dr. Taher takes them to school, discussing an incredible range of topics including:  cultural care across America, being on the front lines of medicine, geriatric care, patients who think Google is their doctor, the detective work required to find the true medical story, and how daily education makes one a better practitioner.

It is an incredible episode and very insightful.  John and Garrett both reflected on their careers after discussing healthcare with Dr. Taher.  You do not want to miss this episode if you are a healthcare provider or have an interest into the mind of people providing emergency medical care and treatment.  John butchers yet another medical word, so that was fun too.

  • The Future of Off The Box...

    Send a text

Today, the guys reflect on their amazing engagement with a rapidly growing audience and discuss where they are taking the show, including the guests planned in the future.

The popularity and growth of the show surprised a lot of people, including the company that Garrett and John work for, HCA (Hospital Corporation of America).  HCA did not have a podcast until Garrett and John started Off The Box, and subsequently, they want to ensure everything is set up for the anticipated growth as Garrett and John deliver the best content in the digital healthcare world.

Garrett and John did not want to have any gaps, so they still sat down to offer a quick recording, and it's very of the heart.  Enjoy this quick episode, and stay tuned for next week's incredible interview where John continues to showcase his incredible talent to absolutely butcher medical terminology.
