  • Full House: S4E6: A Pinch For A Pinch (Back To School Double Feature)
    Happy Full House Friday Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today I covered S4E6: A Pinch for a Pinch, which aired on October 26, 1990.
In this episode, Jesse gives Michelle bad advice on how to handle a bully. Also Stephanie takes her horoscope reading a little to seriously as her predictions according to Madame Kimmy start to coincidently come true. Joey's breakfast of a candy apple comes back to bite him in a bad way after his filling is pulled out and he ends up having to get a root canal. GAH!
Actually now that I think about it, Jesse's advice in both this episode and Nerd For A Day both backfire for Stephanie and Michelle. Stephanie gets a classmate's unrequited affections forced on her and Michelle lands in time out and is yanked out of school all thanks to Jesse.
I have so many things to say about this classroom scene and how this teacher should have been reprimanding Aaron from the start. Granted this is just the beginning of the Jesse/Aaron Bailey antagonizing banter we all come to love as the series goes on. Aaron's jabs just keep cutting Jesse deeper and deeper and we ending laughing harder and harder.
Here's the question I pose to you:
If Joey had been the volunteer and this happened how do you think he would have handled it?
Granted Jesse did go into this volunteer thing with a defeatist attitude of "I don't wanna be here, or actually have to do anything" and I think the kids just fed off his negative energy.
But you've gotta admit this isn't as bad as when Jesse pulled out Nicky and Alex from preschool because they wouldn't kiss him goodbye and he decided they weren't ready when really he wasn't ready to let them go.
Join me later this month when I cover in honor of Elias Harger's (Max Fuller)Birthday, Fuller House S5E14: Basic Training, which aired on June 2, 1990.
In this episode, Max skips a grade and starts middle school. Ramona trains to defeat the reigning champ of a high-stakes sandwich-eating contest.
    Have a great weekend everyone!

  • Full House: S1E10: Joey's Place (In Honor of Dave Coulier's (Joey Gladstone) Birthday)
    Happy Full House Friday Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today in honor of Dave Coulier's Birthday (September 21)(Joey Gladstone) I covered S1E10: Joey's Place, which aired on December 4, 1987.
In this episode Joey fears that the family doesn't need him anymore when they give him a too-joyful send off. But in reality, they are planning a way to surprise him with space of his own. Meanwhile, Jesse learns that Joey's job as child care provider and housekeeper is not an easy one.
I enjoyed this episode and 100% agree Joey did need his own space in fact if I were Joey I would have said before I even move in I need to have my own room or my own space.
I mean honestly if I were agreeing to move in for the unforeseeable future to help raise someone's kids that would have been a condition right, having your own room?
Can you imagine 8 years of living in a alcove/nook space under the stairs? Even Harry Potter had a door, an enclosed space with a bed and some shelves in his space under the stairs, even if it was just a closet. He had privacy. Something Joey could never get. But then again, privacy was always an issue in that house with that family always wanting to know your business and what you were doing all the time every day.
Not to mention the whole family's attitude toward Joey just before he left acting like they didn't need him and making him feel left out. He left for two weeks for a college comedy tour can you imagine having that weighing on your mind thinking while your job is making people laugh. I felt so bad for Joey. I feel he was fully warranted when he came back with the anger he was feeling especially after seeing his stuff gone from the alcove and when he asks the family where all his stuff is they casually/nonchalantly tells him "oh we threw it down in the garage".
I'd be Peed off too if I were him.
But in the end it's a good thing and he gets his own space. the is just the first of many changes the rooms in the Tanner house over the course of 25 years. Lots of room switching/changing. In fact 3 Seasons later it will change again as Joey's basement apartment turns into the studio and Joey takes Jesse's old bedroom as he and Becky move into the attic.
Join me next week when I cover the next episode in the Back To School PART 3 Series Full House S4E6: A Pinch For A Pinch, which aired on October 26, 1990.
In this episode Jesse gives Michelle bad advice on how to handle a bully.

  • Full House: S5E7: The Volunteer (In Honor of World Alzheimer's Day September 21, 2021)
    Happy Full House Friday Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, in honor of World Alzheimer's Day on September 21, 2021 I decided to cover Full House S5E7: The Volunteer, which aired on October 29, 1991.
In this episode DJ befriends an elderly gentleman named Eddie when she volunteers at a nursing home and invited him to her home to help judge a dog trick contest. Jesse and Becky have a bet going that he can't last 24 hours in a pregnancy sympathy pad the winner gets to choose the wallpaper for the nursery.
I liked this episode. I felt so bad for Eddie, being that he doesn't get out of the nursing home very often although I wasn't a fan for how he took advantage of DJ just to sneak out of there.
I found out that there are ways for a man to experience the pains of child birth through a simulation via a clinic.
Granted I don't think it was available in 1991.
As far as a pregnant man, which is what Eddie is surprised by most when he and DJ enter her house and see Jesse with a pregnancy sympathy pad, but you can't see it under Jesse's XL Tshirt with the words Bun In The Oven printed in black bold type on the front.
In 2008, a man took the media by storm when he revealed that he was pregnant. Thomas Beatie. A man who had transitioned from a woman and still had the reproductive organs to be able to carry a child to term.
To cap off the episode I wanted to showcase a couple of performances of Alzheimer's Storylines in other TV Shows.
The first is from Mr. Belvedere S3E2: Grandma, which aired on October 3, 1991.
In this episode Wesley makes friends with an elderly woman at a retirement home, but soon finds out the shocking truth about her: She has Alzheimer's disease.
and the last one is from The Golden Girls S3E1: Old Friends, which aired on September 19, 1987.
In this episode Sophia befriends an elderly man who suffers from Alzheimer's disease.
Join me next week when I cover Full House S1E10: Joey's Place, which aired on December 4, 1987 in honor of Dave Coulier's (Joey Gladstone) Birthday, September 21).

  • Full House: S3E4: Nerd For A Day(Back To School Double Feature)
    Happy Full House Friday Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
It's that time of year again. Welcome Back To School and September.
Today, I'm kicking off the Back To School Series PART 3 with Full House S3E4: Nerd For A Day, which aired on October 13, 1989.
In this episode Stephanie and the rest of her class get detention for calling classmate Walter "Duck Face." Uncle Jesse says being nice to people is important and makes her call Walter to apologize. Unfortunately, Walter takes this to mean Stephanie is his girlfriend, and she suggests being his "secret girlfriend" instead of rejecting him outright and hurting his feelings. The next day when her friends come over to work on a school project, Walter shows up just before everyone else and they find him holding her hand.
I enjoyed this episode just as I do all the episodes I cover. Looking back on how a viewed this episode as child vs today. what seems to a young viewer as a cute crush and puppy love that Walter has on Stephanie, I can see today how Walter's affectionate behavior could come off as forceful not at all in the lines of consent with him saying you're my girlfriend like she doesn't get a choice in the matter and him putting his arm around her and sitting uncomfortably close to her and kissing her in his mind. Also showing up unannounced to Stephanie's house and just walking in.
This comes off as uber creepy.
You don't just show up on someone's doorstep and walk right in, you call first and wait to be invited inside.
And to think this all started when Uncle Jesse made Stephanie apologize to Walter for calling him "duckface". Apologize fine, but then Uncle Jesse instructs Stephanie to tell Walter he is a very nice boy and I think that's what set Walter off on this creepy quest for love.
I like how when Stephanie is facing off against her other school friends when they start teasing her for being seen holding hands with Walter, Jesse is watching from above on the stairs.
I mean yes, he probably could have intervened if it escalated to a point, but he knew that Stephanie would have to handle this situation on her own. And she did. She quickly turned the tables on the other kids making them own up to their own moments of humiliation. And see that it doesn't feel good to be teased.
I feel bad that this is the final episode with Harry and they really had his character go out on a sour note. Remember Stephanie's boyfriend that she married in Season 2.
This kid strolls in with two other students. He's got a new look, new clothes, and he also tossed the salad bowl haircut from Season 2 for a side part and he's got this swagger confidence that's a bit unsettling. Let's just say he comes off as a jilted ex boyfriend.
He even goes so far as to say throw out "Duckface" before I walk out of your life forever"
Where is this hostility coming from Harry? Good grief.
Luckily he changes his ways and Stephanie invites Walter to stay and join her group on the bug project for class.
I take it no one wanted him in their group. That is so sad, plus I know what that feels like.
Join me next week as I cover Full House S5E7: The Volunteer for Alzheimer's Day this month, which aired October 29, 1991.

  • Full House: S5E3: Take My Sister Please (SISTERS Double Feature PART 1)
    Happy Full House Friday,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, I covered Full House S5E3: Take My Sister Please, which aired on October 1, 1991, as the last episode in the SISTERS Double Feature PART 1
In this episode DJ lobbies for her own bedroom, but Michelle is reluctant to share a room with Stephanie, who is depressed because nobody wants her as a roommate.
Also Danny and Joey both compete for the attention of Becky's child birth coach Lisa, sadly Danny loses out to Joey because Lisa can't get enough of Joey's cartoon impressions (being we never see her again, I take it at some point she grew weary of the impressions).
Becky's got a tight leash on Jesse as she sends him on food craving errands that rapidly change over the course of a shopping trip, but that's nothing when Becky's cravings for watermelon send Jesse across the border and even out of the country for Swiss Chocolate. Lucky for Jesse, he finally draws the line at the last two and says enough is enough.
This was a fun episode and I even learned a strange but interesting fact from Joey that played on a loop in my head when I went to the theater to see the 2012 movie release Lincoln.
President Kennedy had a secretary named Lincoln and President Lincoln had a secretary named Kennedy.
Join me next week when I kick off the Back To School PART 3 Series in September with Full House S3E4: Nerd For A Day, which aired on October 13, 1989.

  • Full House: S3E13: No More Mr. Dumb Guy (In Honor of John Stamos's (Uncle Jesse) Birthday)
    Happy Full House Friday Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, I covered Full House S3E13: No More, Mr. Dumb Guy, which aired on January 5, 1990.
In this episode Jesse feels intellectually challenged after Becky invites him to the Fine Arts Festival and he ends up going head to head or should I say arm to arm with Becky's old college professor Dr. Eric Trent. (the actor is the son of Dick Van Dyke)in a battle of brawn for Becky's affection.
Meanwhile Stephanie and DJ little gamer of "telephone" or as Stephanie calls it "Michelle-a-phone" turns turns their sweet little sister Michelle into a little insult monster as she goes around calling everyone "cheese-head".
I enjoyed this episode although I thought Becky should have stood up for Jesse after her old professor was insulting Jesse's intelligence and lack of a college education as well as getting his name wrong on purpose.
When Jesse tells Michelle that she is smart because he tells her "don't be dumb like me, go to college", I immediately got Aibileen (Viola Davis)from the movie "The Help" vibes as she tells 3 year old May Mobley, "You is Smart, You is Kind, You is Important". I love that scene in the movie.
I also loved the song Jesse serenades to Becky "I Belong To You".
Join me in late August for the last episode in the SISTERS Double Feature PART 1 when I cover Full House S5E3: Take My Sister, Please, which aired on October 1, 1991.
In this episode DJ lobbies for her own bedroom, but Michelle is reluctant to share a room with Stephanie, who is depressed because nobody wants her as a roommate.

  • Full House: S1E13: Sisterly Love (SISTERS Double Feature PART 1)
    Happy Full House Friday Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, I'm covering Full House S1E13: Sisterly Love, which aired on January 8, 1988.
In this episode, Stephanie is chosen for the part in a TV commercial for which D.J. was auditioning. Joey after a visit to the doctor decides to cut out all junk food as it is revealed he has high cholesterol.
This is the first episode of the SISTERS Double Feature PART 1.
I really enjoyed this episode. I got some Who's The Boss, Judith Light as Angela Bower vibes with Vivian the casting director(and when I say vibes I just mean she resembled her a little with the big blond hair and giant 80's glasses) when DJ went to the audition.
If I had to choose between DJ's audition and Stephanie's (not official audition, c'mon she was just having fun eating cereal). I'd go with Stephanie's. It was more entertaining to watch and less rehearsed sounding.
Joey with the high cholesterol side story was hilarious as he tries to go as I say hard core full bore no junk food and forces himself to drink the nastiest puke-tastic protein shake I've ever seen.
He even sneaks a burger and fries into Michelle's room to eat it when he really should of just sat in his car and ate it before entering the house, but hey, we get to see baby Michelle eat a french fry and that's totes adorable!
Also in this episode we learn both DJ and Stephanie's middle names, Donna Jo Margaret (which Jesse is surprised to hear, which is odd being he's her Uncle and he was there the day she was born)and Stephanie Judith which we do hear Stephanie say that a few times over the course of the show.
Also this is the first time ever we hear Stephanie's catchphrase "How Rude".
I hope you all enjoy this episode and I'll be back with Full House S3E13: No More Mr. Dumb Guy, which aired on January 5, 1990.
In this episode Jesse feels intellectually challenged after Becky invites him to escort her to the Festival of Cultural Arts. Jesse tries to cram for this event by listening to opera, hanging posters of Monet on his walls and reading the first and last pages of some big classic novels like A Tale Of Two Cities. With Joey giving him pointers like putting the tip of his glasses in his mouth and saying "interesting but terribly overrated.", how could this night not be a total disaster?
    Have a great weekend everyone!

  • Fuller House: S1E6: The Legend Of El Explosivo (In Honor of Michael Campion's B-Day)
    Happy Full House Friday Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, in honor of Michael Campion's(Jackson Fuller) Birthday (July 26), I decided to cover Fuller House S1E6: The Legend of Explosivo, which aired on February 26, 2016.
In this episode DJ punishes Jackson after catching him in the act of performing a dangerous stunt over (having been influenced by the wrestling stunts of Lucha Kaboom)at Bobby Popko's house, causing him to miss his favorite Mexican wrestling league, Lucha Kaboom (which Stephanie who's DJing at the event has tickets for the whole family).
However, DJ grounds Jackson, but unbeknownst to her he concocts a plan with the help of his friend Bobby Popko to sneak down and see the wrestling event.
Ramona has her own problems when it comes to Kimmy interfering with her dance team routine and she puts her on snack/chauffeur duty. Luckily for the girls, Kimmy is able to come to the rescue when the time comes for their routine they are left them one girl short.
I enjoyed this episode, it was very entertaining and a lot of fun. Also I actually forgot how young Michael Campion looked and sounded in Season 1 since I've been covering episodes lately from the later Seasons of the show.
Join me in August when I cover two episodes for the Sisters Double Feature:
Full House S1E13: Sisterly Love, which aired on January 8, 1988.

    Happy Full House Friday Everyone,
Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast.
Today, in honor of Lori Loughlin's (Aunt Becky) Birthday, I decided to cover Full House S8E21: Leap Of Faith which aired on March 21, 1995.
In this episode Jesse tries to stop Rebecca from bungee jumping--but thinks it's okay if he takes risks. Michelle cons her dad into letting her go to a rock concert.
I enjoyed this episode, but both Jesse's only men can be adventurous and take risks but not women attitude towards Becky and Danny who thinks it's a great idea to let a 9 year old go to a Counting Crows Concert which is totally bonkers. this got on my nerves.
I mean, she constantly gets the band's name wrong and clearly this will be a concert where everyone is standing up and Michelle being a kid won't even be able to see the stage let alone the band performing.
Join me next week when I cover Fuller House S1E6: The Legend of El Explosivo, which aired on February 26, 2016 in honor of Michael Campion's (Jackson Fuller) Birthday.
In this episode DJ punishes Jackson, causing him to miss his favorite Mexican wrestling league, Lucha Kaboom. But that only leads to more action for the fans.
I hope you all have a great and safe holiday weekend!
