When we started this podcast, we wanted to bring others along to our coffee chats where we’re constantly learning from one another, particularly in the realms of pop culture, justice, and the enneagram. When we’re talking, we seamlessly flow from one arena to another, because we find that justice is needed in pop culture, pop culture tells us about ourselves, and our own self-awareness informs how we pursue justice. Today we just wanted to update you on some of the things we’ve been learning recently! We’ll cover things like the recent Hamilton criticisms, President Obama’s book that came out last year, Sara’s seminary program inside of a prison, and Ty’s new small group called the Badass Grandmas.

For our next enneagram focused episode, we thought we’d explore how it interacts with other personality frameworks. All of these tools, when used together, can give us robust language for understanding ourselves and others. While we believe the enneagram is not a personality framework (which you’ll hear about in the episode), we also see the utility of things like the Meyers Briggs, DISC, and Strengths Finder.

We are excited to share with you that we’re starting a series exploring different facets of resistance. We understand resistance to be the ways we free ourselves from bondage to patriarchy, white supremacy, and colonialism. Our teachers and guides out of this bondage must always be BIPOC, but this is a journey to which all people are invited. Our first exploration is with Mary Beth Johnson, a chronically ill food blogging Chapina who works in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago to teach young people about food justice and holistic nutrition. In her words, she has created her own masters' curriculum of food anthropology, soul care, justice, storytelling, earth care, ancestral eating and cooking. We LOVED talking to her about this topic, and can’t wait for you to learn more as you listen along. We’ve will update with several resources so be on the look out for that! 

This week we’re definitely having tea time as we talk about Harry and Megan’s interview with Oprah, and spill some tea of our own about what it’s been like for us to start this podcast.
