Omega 14

Last time, I wax about wether 3rd edition is better or worse than 4th edition. Then, a few days later, we play a 5 player game of 3rd. There were some seemingly small things that ended up making a gigantic impact on the game, from a time perspective, and an inability to score stage 2 objectives. This game, by itself, didn't cause me to throw 3rd in the trash (far from it) but it did make me go order 4th again the day after. We propose that there could be room for a hybrid, with 4th as the base, and addons from 3rd to spice things up.

This has been on my mind for quite some time, and I feel like some of my opinions might be in the minority here, but I break down some aspects of both games, and talk about my feelings on if the changes made to 4th edition do in fact make the game better or not. Also, I got my first printed materials for ARK, which I'm excited to share with you all! I go into some of what I got printed, and the state of ARK at this time.

Okay, it's been a year, and it's time to finally dive back into both the podcast and game development. This is a general re-introduction from me, and a catch up on what's been going on, and where the state of my game design is at. I've also planned the next few episodes, with a couple focusing on trimming down game collections, Twilight Imperium and how I believe 3rd edition is better than 4th, how amazing Shattered Empire is, and what's going on with my own game designs.

Marcus and I went to the Twilight Imperium Tournament at Mox Boarding House. As you would expect it was an incredible day with some high highs and low lows, but ultimately it was 100% worth it, and we have quite a few stories to tell. My group was the most bitter and snappy group I've ever played with, but you know what? I would do it again in a heart-beat.

It's been a long time since my last episode. We've been selling our house, getting a new home, moving, and all the crap that goes along with that. But In the middle of it all, I sat down, opened up by development journal, and started talking about the strategies, decisions, and gameplay emotions I'm designing for Ark. This is a big catch-up episode from my couple month hiatus. I've been selling our house, which means I haven't had time to record anything recently. This episode is a mixed bag, but I do talk about Netrunner, learning to really play Leaving Earth, a little bit of City of Kings, but mostly I dig into my recent games of Twilight Imperium 4th Edition, where I talk about the positives and negatives about our 2 player game, which was immediately followed by a 3 player game.

We're back! Or at least I'm back. After a 2 month hiatus, I get back on the microphone to talk about what's going on in our life and why I haven't been recording any episodes. Also, We've been playing Gloomhaven, Kingdom Death Monster, City of Kings, and more. I also talk about luck vs. strategy, and some ups and downs about that, and which ones I prefer both to play, and to incorporate into my game designs. I also talk a bit about narrative arcs, and how they can play a role in design.

What a show. Jessica and Ben join me to do a round table discussion on our first couple campaign encounters of Kingdom Death: Monster. As it goes, we veer WAY off topic and end up talking about Dark Souls, MOBA's, PUBG, and the amazing Child's Play charity auction put on by the people that run PAX.

We get pretty deep into strategy, how table position, neighbors, and the meta game all play an intricate role in shaping the course of this epic game. I also preface this episode talking about some issues regarding social media, my absense, and some plans for 2018.
