Omega Metroid Podcast

We once again turned the keys to the show over to you, asking you to send us Metroid questions, and you did not disappoint! How would a "Metroid 99" battle royale game work? Would Metroid Prime Remastered have benefited from a traditional marketing build? What new abilities for Samus's Suit would we like to see in future games? Is "Phendrana Drifts" overrated? Is there any room for weapons like swords or maces in Metroid? Are we hoping for Metroid 6 next, or a remake instead? If Samus was to not be the main protagonist of the series, what kind of character should replace her? Is Sylux going to be the big bad of Metroid Prime 4, or a peripheral character?

All this and so much more, PLUS we talk the Microsoft leak and the legacy of Xbox. Don't miss out!

Our annual September Direct came and went, and while there was some quality stuff shown, it will likely be remembered as fairly underwhelming. The gang get together to discuss the not-unexpected-but-still-disappointing absence of Metroid Prime's Echoes and Corruption and what the calibre of games shown could mean for the Switch 2's reveal. We also get into the Direct itself and talk about the numerous Mario titles and why there are so many, the best way to make a new F-Zero game and what it should be about, Mario Kart's lacklustre Booster Pass and what we would do instead, the greatness of The Thousand Year Door, and so much more!

All this, PLUS a little football talk, a bit of Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft discussion, and, guess what? Next week we're doing a fan Q&A, so make sure you ask us a question over on Discord or Twitter to get it answered on the show!

Rumors have been flying around lately about the successor to the Nintendo Switch, with Nintendo apparently showing off the "Switch 2" at Gamescom this year, so this week, Andy and Doom break down the technical specs that the Switch 2 is rumored to have, spitball their theories on when Nintendo will reveal their console (spoiler: Andy thinks it's sooner than you think!), when Metroid Prime 4 will launch on the new system and whether we even get a Switch version still, if there's a chance Metroid Prime 2 and 3 launch on the Switch before the new console, and so much more!

All this, PLUS some predictions for what we might see in the September Direct, we revisit older Nintendo consoles last year release schedules, and debate if the time for Mother 3 to hit NA is finally upon us. Come hang with us!

We're back to finish off the journey we started last week with Volume 1 of the Metroid Manga! Volume 2 picks up right where the last one left off and makes some...interesting decisions. Hear our thoughts on things like Adam's characterization towards Samus, if that ending was enough to undo the whole story thus far, Samus suffering from PTSD (and how that same scene later resurfaced in Other M), the fights against Ridley and the rest of the Space Pirates, how much DNA funny business is too much, and Grey Voice the Chozo's character arc!

Come tune in to this nearly TWO HOUR episode that offers the most in-depth analysis of the Metroid Manga ever done and be sure to let us know your thought over on Discord!

All of the Metroid manga has been fan translated by our pals over at Metroid Database and is available to read here, so make sure that you check them out!

All of the Metroid manga has been fan translated by our pals over at Metroid Database and is available to read here, so make sure that you check them out, and don't worry - we're finishing the story next week with Volume 2!

After a long layover, Inspired By Metroid returns to examine the critically acclaimed Dead Cells, a game by Motion Twin. Dead Cells is a mashup, mixing classic Roguelike gameplay with Metroidvania exploration and platforming, so it feels familiar yet different! Joining Andy this week is Zach Guillot of the Collateral Gaming Video Game Podcast, as they discuss their thoughts on Roguelikes in general, what Metroid fans would like about this game, the different levels and areas, if the two genres of games mix well, the incredible depth of weapons and customization, and if the lack of story is made up for by the killer gameplay.

All this, PLUS Zach's Tears of the Kingdom thoughts, looking back at the IGN plagiarism controversy, and more!

NOTE: We are only covering the base game of Dead Cells. No Return to Castlevania... yet!

We are back once again to thorough analyze a Metroid area in our ongoing Mapping Metroid series, and this week, we return to Metroid Dread to talk the fallen Chozo city of Ferenia! We talk about our favorite rooms in the area, what sets Ferenia apart from other Dread locales, if the story told in that cutscene was effective or a stinker, argue about the music found within, discuss Escue and the Core-X, and describe some of our favorite Shinespark puzzles found within!

All this, PLUS we spend a bunch of time discussing the Metroid Dread sales figures, Mercury Steam CEO's comments about a "non-chaotic working environment", the new Super Metroid any% world speedrunning record, and our own stories of speedrunning Metroid Dread's Boss Rush mode! Strap in and come hang out for the deepest dive on Ferenia anywhere on the internet!!

Heeeee's baaaack! This week, Andy returns and joins the fellas as they embark on a marathon topic: picking a favorite song from each game in the Metroid series (plus AM2R and Smash Bros. for good measure!). We have a lot of fun discussing our favorite tracks, trying to describe why we like them, which soundtracks we think are the best and which ones leave something to be desired, and realizing that, of all games, Metroid Prime Federation Force has *by far* the biggest OST in the entire series!

The whole band is back together and having an absolute blast, so come and hang out with us and let us know what your favorite songs from each game are!

Welcome back to the Omega Metroid Podcast! This week on the show, Dak & Doom are joined by Omega Metroid community manager Lillith to talk all about Metroid Prime 2: Echoes!

With rumors of a Metroid Prime 2 remaster back in the mix, the squad decided to discuss the rumors and their thoughts now that the first Metroid Prime Remastered has been released. Plus, we do a retrospective on the original Metroid Prime 2 - our favorite memories of the game, how it stacks up to the original Prime, and the game's legacy looking back at it almost twenty years later. And we jump into a few changes we'd like to see made, or not made at all, for the Remastered version if it comes out.

All this, plus a little Barbenheimer discussion and more on this week's show!
