On Everyday with Tyler & Liam

The Edmonton Oilers left it late yesterday against the Florida Panthers but still managed to come away victorious. Evan Bouchard blasted a one-timer passed Spencer Knight, who was excellent for Florida, to tie the game up at three with five seconds left. Then, Leon Draisaitl ended the extra frame quickly to give the Oilers the two points and their first win streak since their five-game streak was ended by the New Jersey Devils.

Tyler Yaremchuk will recap everything that happened last night at Rogers Place on today's show. We will talk about how the Oilers came away with the victory, what we liked and did not like, and what to expect from their opponents on their upcoming road trip. 

For the first time, Tab Bamford from Bleacher Nation will also join Tyler Yaremchuk on today's show. He will give us some insight on what to expect from the Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow night on the road.

It has been a spicy week for the Edmonton Oilers, but not in a good way. After losing to the New York Islanders on Wednesday, fans were left frustrated with the performances this team has been putting out on the ice. Now, with the New York Rangers coming up on Saturday, a team that also went to the final four last season, how will the Oilers respond?

One change that was made today was recalling Philip Broberg, their first-round pick from 2019, from the Bakersfield Condors and sending down Markus Niemelainen. Broberg was called up earlier in the season but did not play before being sent down again. In the American Hockey League this season, the Swedish defenceman has dressed in seven games scoring twice and collecting four points. Is Broberg the solution to the team's blueline woes? We want to hear your thoughts on the decision.

Last night, the Edmonton Oilers could not find a way by Ilya Sorokin after firing 49 shots at the New York Islanders. At the other end of the ice, they could not help out their goaltending, Jack Campbell, who was not at fault for last night's loss. Edmonton is now 0-2-0 on their three-game road trip, with the New York Rangers next up on Saturday. Tyler Yaremchuk will cover everything that happened in last night's loss in Long Island. 

Following 60 minutes of action yesterday, the Oilers hit the 20-game mark and now sit at 500 and outside of a playoff spot at American Thanksgiving. The stats say that teams outside of a playoff spot at this date have a 23% chance of making the postseason. With that said, Tyler graded each player from a passing to need to better. The Edmonton Oilers have been consistently inconsistent since losing to the New Jersey Devils at Rogers Place on November 3rd. They struggle to put wins together; however, they are not staying in the loss column for long. It is a streak they will want to break out of, and tonight they will have a chance to gain two more points against the New York Islanders. 

To get your prepared for tonight's action on the ice, Tyler Yaremchuk and Jay Downton will be around for the Sherwood Ford GIANT Pre Game Show. They will discuss what the Oilers need to do to win in New York, the lineup decisions, and the debate on who should start between the pipes. 

Yesterday, Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff released his top 20 trade board from around the NHL, which included Jonathan Toews, Bo Horvat and Erik Karlsson. Today, he will join Tyler and Jay on the show to discuss his trade board and which ones could be possible targets for the Edmonton Oilers.

Last night, the Edmonton Oilers could not find a way to end the New Jersey Devils' win streak falling 5-2 to the Metropolitan Division leaders. The score line did not look good for the Oilers; however, it was not all doom and gloom. We will get into why there are positives to take away from last night on Oilersnation Everyday. 

Stuart Skinner had a difficult night between the pipes, arguably the only time he has underperformed this season. Is it time to turn back to Jack Campbell on Wednesday versus the New York Islanders?

The Edmonton Oilers grabbed themselves a massive win on Saturday night, defeating the Vegas Golden Knights in overtime. It was the Oilers first trip to overtime in the 2022-23 season and with it came another highlight reel goal from Connor McDavid. The depth scoring also showed for the home team with Warren Foegele getting the first goal of the game and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins finishing with three assists. Between the pipes, rookie goaltender Stuart Skinner stayed hot, making 31 saves on 34 shots. 

Tonight, it does not get any easier for Skinner and the Oilers as they visit the New Jersey Devils, the top team in the Metropolitan Division. Only a couple of weeks ago, the Devils came to Rogers Places and beat Edmonton 4-3, after scoring two goals in seven seconds in the third period. The Oilers will look to redeem themselves from that defeat.

Like every Oilers game day, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will be joined by Jay Downton for the Sherwood Ford GIANT Pre-Game Show. On today's show, the three of them will recap Saturday night's victory over the Golden Knights, what they need to accomplish tonight in order to win, and the decision between the pipes for Edmonton.

The Edmonton Oilers finish up their two-game home stand tonight versus the Pacific Division leaders, the Vegas Golden Knights. This is the first meeting between the two rivals with the Golden Knights coming into Rogers Place off the back of a 4-1 over the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday. Unfortunately for the Oilers, they will be looking to get in the win column again after losing 3-1 to the LA Kings on Wednesday.

Edmonton made some changes to their lineup in practice yesterday putting Mattias Janmark on the top line with Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman. Additionally, Ken Holland recalled Brad Malone from the Bakersfield Condors, who has played two games in the NHL this season. Tyler, Jay and Liam will talk about the lineup decision and the recall of Malone on today's Sherwood Ford GIANT Pre-Game Show.

The Oilers have struggled to find consistency since winning five in a row; however, they have had big wins this season versus top teams like the Tampa Bay Lightning, Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers. Could this be another night when they step up their game?

On the show yesterday, Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff was on the show. He suggested that acquiring a defenceman is not a priority for Ken Holland and his staff right now.  If that is the case, then who could be a target for this team?

The Edmonton Oilers lost narrowly to the LA Kings last night at Rogers Place; however, that is not the story that is making the headline. Oilers star forward Connor McDavid took a knee-on-knee hit from Kings defenceman Alex Edler, who received a two-minute penalty on the player. When Zach Hyman was on the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edler did the same thing, which put Hyman out of the lineup for two months and received a two-game suspension. Despite having a history of this, the NHL player safety department today that the Kings defenceman would not receive more discipline for the collision. Do you agree or disagree with the league's decision?

Also, on the show, we will talk about the game itself and what the Oilers did right and wrong. Then, later on, Frank Seravalli from Daily Faceoff joins us to discuss the hit and some possible defensive upgrades for Edmonton.
