We’ve got a ton to get to in this episode of On The Bench. Florida State’s athletic program has put out some big news in decent days, there have been a pair of commitments and decommitments, and a little Buy or Sonnone (the stakes have never been higher).
Oh, and we got a chance to catch up with five-star FSU commitment Travis Hunter. The bellcow of FSU’s 2022 recruiting class opens up about his relationship with Marcus Woodson, his plans to play some receiver for the Seminoles, and his role as a recruiter.
Recruits flocked to Tallahassee for Florida State’s spring game over the weekend. They showed up as fans, but coordinated efforts from commits Nicco Marchiol and Travis Hunter helped create an impactful event from a recruiting perspective.
The staff of Noles247 was out in full force covering the recruiting turnout, and we go over all of it on this episode of On The Bench.
Florida State held its annual Garnet and Gold spring game on Saturday and wraps up spring practice on Sunday. The spring game itself was a fun showing of a good back-and-forth between the offense and defense.
But the entire spring presents some questions about what this program needs in order to take a step in the right direction in 2021. With that in mind, we go over the good, the bad and the unknown from the spring.
Quarterback commitment Nicco Marchiol will be at his future home this week as he makes his return to Florida State for Saturday’s spring game.
Marchiol, before heading to Tallahassee on Thursday, caught up with Noles247’s Zach Blostein in a 1 on 1 interview for On The Bench. Marchiol lends insight into his decision to commit to FSU, his close relationship with Mike Norvell and Kenny Dillingham, his recruiting tactics with Travis Hunter to keep beefing up 2022, and some creative plans for his “official visit.”
More than 100 recruits, many of them blue-chip prospects, could be on Florida State’s campus for the spring game on Saturday.
Fittingly, the entire crew of Noles247’s On The Bench podcast should be around to cover the game and the recruit reaction that is (unofficially) associated with the event.
OTB previews the recruits who should be around this weekend in the latest episode. Plus, we play a little Buy or Sonnone.
With Florida State off the next few days and a busy week ahead of us, this episode of On The Bench is going to be a little different.
Sonnone takes all sorts of questions from an Ask Me Anything thread to go over FSU’s progress so far this spring, expectations on the recruiting trail, bourbon, french fries...whatever.
It’s a full bench, with Chris Nee (joining us from Indianapolis), Zach Blostein, Josh Newberg and Brendan Sonnone on this episode of On The Bench.
Nee does the hoops postmortem after basketball’s season ended in the Sweet 16 with a lopsided loss to Michigan. Then Blostein and Newberg go over the latest developments from recruiting this spring. And finally, Sonnone shares his thoughts on FSU’s second scrimmage.
It’s a full bench for this episode of On The Bench with Newberg, Nee, Sonnone and Blostein on deck to go over a variety of topics. We start with Florida State’s scrimmage and spring ball up until this point after Nee got his first glimpse at the early 2021 version of the Seminoles on Saturday.
Also, Newberg got his first in-person viewing of Travis Hunter...and he more than lived up to the hype. We’ve got more recruiting talk, a great week for FSU baseball to recap and the NCAA Tournament to go over in today’s episode.
Florida State landed a commitment over the weekend from speedy three-star receiver Devaughn Mortimer.
On The Bench goes into this recruitment and commitment in the latest episode. Plus we give you the latest scoop from the Elite 11 in Orlando, debate whether Travis Hunter should play CB or WR, Berg makes a show crystal ball, and we go over some spring storylines by playing Buy or Sonnone.
Get your week started right with On The Bench.
Momentum continues to build for Florida State on the recruiting trail. Four-star quarterback MJ Morris recently named the Seminoles his leader, four-star linebacker Jaron Willis took a visit to his “dream school” and the crystal balls are flying.
On The Bench goes over all the fun recruiting news in this episode. Plus we introduce a new game to prepare you for spring practice storylines, and we preview a now cancelled matchup between FSU and Duke in the ACC Tournament.
