The notorious Chillenden murders stay long in the memory; Dr. Lin Russell and her six-year-old daughter Megan bludgeoned to death with a hammer. Her other daughter, nine-year-old Josie Russell, survived the attack, but with severe brain injuries. Michael Stone was given three life sentences for the attack but has maintained his innocence for three decades. The case still attracts controversy - lack of any real DNA evidence, a conviction that relied heavily on prison cell testimonies, the theory that a true serial killer was to blame.
The Crime Desk speaks exclusively to Barbara Stone, Michael’s sister, on her long campaign to see justice served for her brother and find out what happened that fateful afternoon.
