  • Did You Know? | Ep #05 - "Fairytale of New York". The Controversial Christmas Song That Became a Hit

'Tis the season to be jolly, spend with with those you care about, and listen to some holiday tunes. Some of you might know this song and others have surely heard it but didn't know it's a Christmas song. The Pogues, a Celtic punk rock band founded in London, created the most bewildering Christmas song that blew the minds off of people in 1987. They managed to cause a stir regarding the censorship over the song's lyrical content that still is a hot topic of debate in the UK and Ireland every Christmas season. Fairytale of New York, a song about homesickness, getting drunk on Christmas Eve, and a tumultuous relationship that somehow manages to stick together through adversity. On today's episode we look at how the song came about and the lasting impression it's left.

This week we're taking a look at the famous Paul is Dead theory. Some believe Paul McCartney died in a car accident on November 9, 1966 and he was replaced by a look-a-like. Beatle fanatics and college students in the fall of 1969 spread this story like wildfire, looking for clues of Paul's death thought to be left by the rest of the band members on their subsequent albums. What do you believe? Today, we take a look at the clues and discuss.

  • OTM: EP #18 - The Beatles (Part 3: 1968 - 1970)

We made it to the final installment of my Beatles series. Part 3 has the most in depth look at The Beatles last 3 albums; The White Album, Abbey Road, and Let It Be. The boys are in turmoil and the end is in sight. Tensions arise, and members are beginning to walk out on the band during these last few years. The White Album was their most ambitious double album, Abbey Road is considered one of the most iconic albums of all time, and Let It Be was backed with a film that played up on the fighting that lead to their breakup. But not all was bad, they released some amazing music and performed their last ever live performance on the rooftop of the EMI building in London. Take a dive with me on this final journey of The Beatles.

  • OTM: Ep #17 - The Beatles (Part 2: 1964 - 1968)

We're back with part 2 of my Beatles series! Also in this time period they call off touring for good in 1966, their manager Brian Epstein dies in 1967 leaving them scared and uncertain of their future, they have 3 feature length films in the making, and they are continuing to create the most innovative technology that we all use to this very day. And so much more. Turn off your mind, relax and float down stream with me on this episode.

Albums I cover in this episode: Help, Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, Magical Mystery Tour, Yellow Submarine

Well we're going back in time to learn about the process of making a record, how it's evolved, and the rivalry between Columbia Records and RCA Victor Records on who can create the most superior music format. • OTM: Ep #15 - Daft Punk

Daft Punk started small in Paris, France. They worked hard through the disco and electro music scene, eventually releasing their critically acclaimed debut album Homework. They turned up the fire on their world wide successful Discovery album. Also, their unusual and unique robot costumes set them apart as one of the most talked about and influential electronic bands that set the bar high. They were unwavering in their need for 100% control in creative expression, whatever that meant to them. Take a deep dive with me around the world as we go through their beginning to their unfortunate disbandment earlier this year.

  • OTM: Ep #14 - The Prodigy

This week, we're looking into The Prodigy. They are the kings of the UK big beat and electro music scene, masterfully blending elements of synth and rock to create a big atmospheric listening experience that transports you out to space. Their use of sampling and how they implement it into their music is also a factor that sets them apart from everyone else. The Prodigy started in a small bedroom and officially formed in Essex in 1990. Their breakout single "Charly" forever transformed rave and dance culture as we know it. The prodigy kid himself, Liam Howlett, produces and mixes all of the Prodigy songs with expertise. We also have dancer and singer Keith Flint, MC and singer Maxim, and dancer Leeroy Thornhill. Breathe with me as I take you through the formation of The Prodigy, how they made some of the best dance albums of all time, to where they are now.
