Jane's Addiction is a rock band that formed in LA in the 80s. They had just released their third album by 1991 and they were set to go on a final tour before their breakup. Singer Perry Farrell came up with the concept of Lollapalooza as a music and arts festival that toured many cities across the United States in the summer of 1991, solely for the tour of Jane's Addiction. From that moment on, the festival became an unexpected success and catapulted the music scene with similar music festivals such as Coachella. However, a few rocky years and the mainstream nature of Lollapalooza brought upon it's downfall, until it's rebirth in the 2000s. Join me today as I talk about who Jane's Addiction are, exactly how Perry birthed the famous festival, what lead to it being cancelled, and how it rose from the ashes.

Whitesnake is most famously known for their popular 1987 self titled album that features their biggest hit, "Here I Go Again". The hair metal anthem alongside the successful music video featuring Tawny Kitaen dancing on the hoods of two Jaguars helped to solidify the band's place in America. The story about how Whitesnake and lead singer David Coverdale pushed through to make sure this album was a hit is a fascinating one. On today's episode I talk about the famous song, the music video, who Tawny Kitaen is and her relationship with David, and the inspiring story of David Coverdale's perseverance.

Bobby Caldwell is a musician that is most famous for his hit song "What You Won't Do For Love" that was released alongside his debut album in 1978. As part of the marketing strategy to promote his album, and as to not alienate his label's predominately black audience, they thought it was best to hide the fact that Bobby was actually white. It came as a massive shock when his fans saw him for the first time, expecting him to be black because of his singing voice alone! People have continued to be surprised by this fact, with a multitude of videos online reacting to his music for the very first time. It's a mystery of sorts that has spanned generations of music lovers. Today we look at his upbringing, his inspirations, how he thought about his music career, and more.

The year is 2004. Eric Prydz released an explosive number 1 dance tune called Call On Me with an equally famous music video that swept the world and has continued to make history. However, Eric Prydz along with Ministry of Sound stole that song along with others before him for notoriety. To understand this story we have to look back to the song's origins in Paris, France to see that Thomas Bangalter (one half of Daft Punk) and DJ Falcon together created the song and refused for it to be released mainstream. Take this journey with me as we peel back the layers of sabotage and expose how Eric Prydz and the other key players in this story got away with ripping an indie French House song into a massive hit record.

Andy Warhol was a master at his craft. He made a name for himself among the New York art crowd with his distinct style for pop-art that was never before created. Among the many portraits of celebrities, musicians, and close friends he took using his polaroid camera, and the paintings he created that hung in galleries, he also had a direct hand in creating some of the most iconic album covers of all time. Dive deep with me as we learn about how he produced the famous Velvet Underground album with the banana cover, the even more legendary Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers album cover, and others.
