On The Mix

On this episode, we're talking all about Pearl Jam. Yet another massively successful band from Seattle. We have frontman and singer Eddie Vedder, rhythm guitarist Stone Gossard, lead guitarist Mike McCready, bassist Jeff Ament, and drummer Matt Cameron. Before Pearl Jam, we have to take it back to the very early foundations of grunge music with bands Green River and Mother Love Bone. Also in this episode I talk about Eddie Vedder's sad childhood, to the ups and downs of Pearl Jam fame, the horrible Roskilde Tragedy, and to happier days in the present time.

Seattle was bursting at the seams with up and coming talent in the late 80s/early 90s that were making waves in the music scene. As we all know, there are four main bands at this time that defined the grunge era and what it stood for. One of those bands at front and center of it all is Nirvana; starring frontman and guitarist Kurt Cobain, bass player Krist Novoselic, and drummer Dave Grohl. Nirvana has been heralded as the face of grunge, as they were one of the first rock bands in Seattle to flip the script and make it commercially big with their music. They were a hit with the new generation of young adults coming out of the hair metal era of the 80s and into something they never heard before. Today we take a look at the members before they became Nirvana, how they became so successful, from Bleach to In Utero and to Kurt Cobain's untimely death in 1994.
