This week we watched the no-worries 1996 classic, That Thing You Do! Using some of the same familiar beats as any other musical biopic, but making it much chiller, makes this a PERFECT sick-day movie. Also Liv Tyler looks F L A W L E S S as usual in this one.
This week we watched the 2001 classic (of my high school heart), A Knight’s Tale, starring Heath Ledger, Shannyn Sossamon, Mark Addy, Paul Bettany, Rufus Sewell and Alan Tudyk. Despite the killer cast, this movie doesn’t super duper hold up, but it’s a fun time if you can turn your brain off.
This week we watched one of the Sherman family’s favorites, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. A great movie, but hardly any female characters, so I kind of zoned out.
This week we watched Quentin Tarantino’s 2009 masterpiece Inglourious Basterds, which is among the Sherman family’s all-time favorites.
This week we watched the 2013 film The Invisible Woman about Charles Dickens’ affair with Nelly Ternan. It was slow and quiet and really kinda bummed us out.
This week we watched the just-ok Victoria and Abdul, which had very little plot and a lot of problematic white people attitudes. But hey, the costumes and scenery were beautiful.
This week we watched National Treasure Judi Dench in her first turn as Queen Victoria in Mrs. Brown. The plot was thin, but the Scottish accents were thick.
