This week we watched the 2009 biopic The Young Victoria, which, despite making negative money, remains a treat. Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend have pretty great Victorian chemistry, and Paul Bettany makes a divine Lord M.
This week we watched Yentl, which was directed and produced by its female lead, Barbra Streisand. The plot is grade A feminist goodness, and Mandy Patinkin out here makin' us sweat, but overall it was a little slower and more glum than we expected.
This week we revisited a formative movie for Lindsay: the 2001 Baz Luhrmann glitter-fest Moulin Rouge. It does way too much at basically every turn, and neither of us has the energy to match this film this week, but we gave it our best shot.
This week we watched the 2001 Robert Altman film Gosford Park (based on an idea by Robert Altman and Bob Bob Bob, Bob-Balaban). It was packed full of lots of brilliant British actors, plus Ryan Philippe for some reason? Anyway, it's pretty good, very labyrinthine, and we're both convalescing this week, so... this is a scattered recap.
