Many times, when we face difficulties, afflictions, and persecutions because of the gospel, we usually remember our brothers who suffered terrible persecutions in the Middle Ages. Check out these questions for reflection:
What was it that cheered the faithful Waldenses during the horrible persecutions they faced? What gave Huss and Jerome, the martyrs of the Middle Ages, the courage to face the flames and the sword? And what about Tyndale, Latimer, who also faced fire and sword? One thing I can tell you, it was undoubtedly faith in the promises of God.
They believed Christ’s promise: “Because I live, you will live also” (John 14:19). They found His strength sufficient for life’s greatest trials. They even found joy through fellowship with Christ in His sufferings. And their faithfulness was a powerful witness to the world.
John Huss would not falter in the face of imprisonment, injustice, and death itself. He languished in prison for months. The cold, damp conditions brought on a fever that nearly ended his life. Nevertheless, “the grace of God sustained him. During the weeks of suffering that passed before his final sentence, heaven’s peace filled his soul.

When talking about the Protestant Reformation, names like Luther, John Huss, Jerome, among others, come to mind, of course. Indeed, these were great reformers. But it is also necessary to remember the pioneering work of John Wycliffe in England in the 14th century AD.
Known as the Morning Star of the Reformation, John Wycliffe was the herald of the Reformation not only for England, but for all of Christendom.
“The character of Wycliffe is a testimony to the educating, transforming power of the Holy Scriptures. It was the Bible that made him what he was. The effort to grasp the great truths of revelation imparts freshness and vigor to all the faculties. It expands the mind, sharpens the perceptions, and ripens the judgment. The study of the Bible will ennoble every thought, feeling, and aspiration as no other study can. It gives stability of purpose, patience, courage, and fortitude; it refines the character and sanctifies the soul. An earnest, reverent study of the Scriptures, bringing the mind of the student in direct contact with the infinite mind, would give to the world men of stronger and more active intellect, as well as of nobler principle, than has ever resulted from the ablest training that human philosophy affords.”
John Wycliffe spent his life translating the Word of God into English for two reasons alone: the living Christ changed Him through the Word, and the love of Christ motivated him to share what he had learned with others. Indeed, translating the scriptures into English was Wycliffe's most valuable contribution to the truth. The value of the human instrument is evaluated according to the heart's capacity to know and understand God.
Before Wycliffe, very little of the Bible existed in English. Though he died before Rome got to him, the papacy, undeterred, dug up his remains, burned them, and threw his ashes into a river. But just as those ashes were dispersed by the water, so God’s Word, the water of life, spread far and wide as a result of His work. Thus God used Wycliffe, the “Morning Star of the Reformation.”

The biblical texts of Acts 5, Ephesians 6, and Revelation 3 teach us that it is more important to obey God than men. That we must be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. That we must hold on firmly to what we have so that no one takes our crown from us.
The Waldenses were one of the first groups to obtain the Bible in their own language. A moving account of their hand copying of the Bible written by Jean Leger, a Waldensian Bible copyist, contains firsthand information of their work, including drawings. The Waldenses secretly copied the Scriptures in their mountain communities of northern Italy and southern France. Youth at an early age were instructed by their parents to memorize large portions of Scripture. Teams of Bible copyists worked together to copy the Bible laboriously. Many of these Waldense young adults traveled throughout Europe as merchants, quietly sharing the truths of Scripture. Some enrolled in universities and, as the opportunity arose, shared portions of the Scriptures with their fellow students. Guided by the Holy Spirit, at the right moment when they sensed a receptivity on the part of some honest seeker, select portions of their precious Scripture passages were given away. Many paid for their fidelity and devotion with their lives. Although the Waldenses did not understand every Bible teaching clearly, they preserved the truth of God’s Word for centuries by sharing it with others.

The book of Jude, written before Christ's death, is a concise and concise introduction to the faith of Christians. It warns against debauchery and the belief in Jesus as the only Savior. The book highlights the importance of faith in the Middle Ages, when pagan practices and human traditions compromised the word of God. The faithful Waldenses, a key figure in the faith, were promised the crown of life to the winner of the church of Smyrna. The book's narrative of the crown of life inspires believers to endure death for Christ's sake, believing they will see Jesus one day and live with him forever.

Daniel 7 and Revelation 12:14 depict the vision of the four beasts, with the fourth animal being described as dreadful and horrifying. Daniel mentions the fourth animal multiple times, referring to the 1260 years of papal power between 538 and 1798 of the Christian era. The Visigoths, Vandals, and Ostrogoths were tribes with differing beliefs from Rome. The last of these tribes, the Ostrogoths, began the 1260 days or years of spiritual darkness. The Pope established himself by the sixth century, and the church recognized the bishop of Rome as its head. The Pope Christians forced to abandon their principles and accept papal worship and rites. The prophetic visions of Daniel and the Apocalypse emphasize the importance of faithfulness and devotion to God and His truth, as the planet does not lack a ruler and a detailed plan for future occurrences.
