Today’s speech spotlight episode on One Clap Speech and Debate features Cheyenne East alum and super good friend of the podcast, YuYu Yuan.  YuYu was a four-year Thunderbird and a two time Wyoming State Champion PF debater, as well as a State Champion in Original Oratory.  You know YuYu from several One Clap episodes and her awesome extemporaneous series created with Spencer Travis - The Half Hour. She will be sharing two speeches with us on One Clap, but the speech that she is sharing with us today is from 2020.  It is called “Naming Our Identity.”

Spencer Travis dropped in to chat about illicit drugs and share his thoughts on the current January 2022 Public Forum Debate resolution.   Spencer is currently studying Political Science at the University of Wyoming.  He competed in Speech and Debate for four years at Green River, and his career there was highlighted by two top five State finishes and a finish in the Top 90 of International Extemporaneous Speaking at the National Speech and Debate Tournament.

You all know Spencer as one of the hosts of The Half Hour podcast which has been a powerful resource for Extemporaneous Speakers.  On this episode of Rock On! Debate, Spencer discusses the pros and cons of the legalization of illicit drugs and some of the approaches debaters may take in this resolution.

Today on Speech Love from One Clap Speech and Debate, Kennedy Nicole Thompson, a four-year Rock Springs HS Tiger, successful PF debater, and the 2021 Wyoming State Champion in Original Oratory dropped in for a chat with Lyle.  In a previous Speech Spotlight episode, Kennedy shared her State Championship Original Oratory entitled: "Mad Woman."  In our conversation, Kennedy discussed her nerd level (including a shocking revelation about Kennedy's "Star Wars" experience) and her Speech and Debate story.  She talked about what she enjoys about Original Oratory, gave some great advice for others pursuing a great oratory, and also specifically discussed the inception, the development, and the speaking moves in her “Mad Woman” oratory.  We also talked about the joys of debate partnerships and the virtues of jolly ranchers.
