Wrestlemania! The Grandest Stage of Them All!. Will it be KofiMania!? Some of us here at One Fall think so, one of us does not. In this episode we give our thoughts on the story lines coming into Mania, who we think is going to win as well as our thoughts on the hall of fame class and NXT Takeover.
One Fall! returns with a discussion of The Viper, Randy Orton. Focusing on what was presented in the WWE documentary Evolution of a Predator, we talk about Randy’s path from headstrong, arrogant, raw young talent to the established superstar he is today. Oddly, as accomplished as Orton is, it might be possible that he was underused, and certainly is being underused currently by WWE creative. Orton is simply one of the best, if not the best heel’s the company has today. He also is among the most talented in ring workers and is skilled on the mic. Yet somehow, if we discuss the 5 or even 10 WWE superstars, most people aren’t getting to Randy Orton today, because somehow he is being used almost as enhancement talent. Maybe with a big new contract that will change and will be used correctly, as he should be, at the head of a heel faction.
After a long hiatus One Fall is relaunching. Things will be a little different but it is still us and our style. This week we discuss AEW and the positive impact this will have on a stagnate WWE. Scott advances a theory that Stephanie McMahon is to blame for the PG era and Hollywood writers. We also look ahead to some possible Wrestlemania scenarios with Becky, Charlotte and Ronda. We also mix in a discussion of who the best technical male and female wrestler’s are.
Looking ahead we plan to mix in more wrestling related movie and documentary reviews, as well as retrospectives on past pay per views from bygone era’s as well discussions of individual wrestlers careers, standout events or matches and more darker and crazier things like The Kevin Sullivan Conspiracy, which explores the crazy theory that Kevin Sullivan was involved in the Benoit family tragedy.
It’s One Fall 2.0 - a lot will be the same, but eventually much will be different. Like all things version 2.0 will take a minute to find its final form, and as we introduce changes it may sound more similar than different, but in the end a more diverse show is coming - we hope you will be along for the ride
Due to a technical glitch this pod is uploaded late. We made Super Show predictions and recapped Hell In Cell. The Gnomes messed up the upload. Apologies for this being so late.
It is the 20 year anniversary of the Hell In A Cell when Mankind was thrown off and through the cage. In honor of Mick we do the Mount Rushmore of Hell In A Cell matches. We also preview the upcoming Hell In Cell pay per view and make our picks.
It's time to make our predictions for SummerSlam. I mean, when we recorded this the PPV had not occurred. Probably should have recorded it before Sunday, but hey.
We also discuss how and why NXT is better than the main roster. These guys want it more at every level and have everything to gain, so they are willing to lose everything. Conversely, Vince doesn't give a damn if these guys and gals get hurt, so he lets them nearly kill themselves to entertain you.
This week we discuss the passing Brian Christopher and Nikolai Volkoff. There is a big disagreement in opinion on Grandmaster's mindset when he took his own life and it spawns a discussion on mental health treatment in America which works in solitary confinement, the criminal justice system in America and if this is the safest time to be alive. It gets off the rails. We also discuss the road to Summer Slam, Lesnar and the end game with Lesnar's story
Yeah, it is really episode 24, but since we forgot the numbering and recorded it as episode 25, that's what it is, or maybe episode 24 had so many edits it could not be aired?
As the title indicates we spend pretty much this entire episode discussing the upcoming all ladies pay per view, Evolution. We have mixed opinions on how this will go over. Scott feels the wrestling will generally be good, well produced and entertaining, but that the WWE universe may not embrace it. Ed and TJ think the WWE universe will embrace it and that it will be above average. Brian thinks it is going to be terrible and that the WWE universe will not accept it.
One thing is for sure, the WWE continues to develop a talented women's division and we can expect to a bigger focus on it. Its about time WWE.
After week off One Fall! returns. We have new co-champs, as TJ and ED tied in predictions for Extreme Rules. Topics include - is Asuka done after two straight losses to Carmella and a loss to Charlotte? She has been up over a year without the belt. We discuss Braun throwing KO off the cage and how the issue with Extreme Rules was not the booking but the lack of storylines leading up to it. We conclude with a discussion on Hulk Hogan's reinstatement and wrestler reaction.
Originally the title for this one was related to Rey Mysterio Jr but we decided not to discuss him for whatever reason. This week we discuss extreme rules, Raw and Smackdown recap and a hypothetical merger between TNA and ROH. We also discuss the need for managers in today's WWE and our Mt. Rushmore of managers. No surprises at the top.
