If you’ve ever traveled and had to stay in a hotel or someone else’s house, you’ve probably said something like this: “I can’t wait to sleep in my own bed” OR “There’s no place like home!” There’s just something about home. And it’s even better when it’s filled with the people you love. So think about what it’s like to have a home designed and created by God Himself, one that is filled with His family. And your Father, like the one seen in the story of the Prodigal, is standing by the road, daily anticipating your return. There’s no need to stay gone long. Cut your trip short. God is waiting to welcome you home.

Have you ever considered how incredibly awesome it is that we can have a conversation with God? Not a human celebrity or advice-giver or bill-collector. God. Himself! Donald Miller once said, “If we knew how much God loved us and was for us, we’d talk to Him all day long." But we let so much stuff get in the way of this conversation. Even spiritual stuff, like religious activity. Sometimes, we just need to be reminded how amazing it is, how powerful it is — and how simple it is. You are a child of God and He is your Father. You were created for relationship with Him. You were created for conversation with Him. Real. Authentic. Transparent. One-on-one. Two-way. Conversation. You can share your frustrations and even your anger. He will listen. You can ask for help. He will come through. You can listen for wisdom. He will speak. Don’t be afraid. Don’t hold back. Enter in. It’s the Ultimate Conversation. And it changes everything!

The old is gone. The new has come. This is the way the apostle Paul described our life in Jesus Christ. So why does it seem like our old life is still hanging around? We still wrestle with some of the same emotions, the same thoughts, and sometimes even the same behaviors! The good news is that Paul answers this question. He teaches us when we put our faith in Jesus, God’s perspective is that we are new. We are holy. We are perfect. The declaration is immediate. It’s final. But it’s also followed by a process. A life-changing process of transformation that’s all about holding on to the new and letting go of the old. First comes the declaration. Then the transformation. One is a perspective. One is a process. Both are God’s idea. If we will trust in His perspective and embrace His process, we will experience the abundant life He has promised!

Do you ever wonder why your life is not producing the kind of results you want it to? You long to grow spiritually, relationally, professionally -- you long to grow in your purpose -- but for some reason, you seem to stagnate? One day, Jesus was teaching a large crowd of people, and he explained to them that God’s word is like a seed that drops into the soil of our hearts. The seed is designed to produce a crop. And yet, the seed is not productive for everyone. Why is that? Jesus explains that the seed is not the problem -- the problem is the soil. If we want to experience the fullness of all that God has for us, we must cultivate the soil of our hearts to receive the productive power of God’s word.

If you’ve ever been harmed, you know how tempting it is to hold onto the harm that was done to you. The reason you hold onto the harm is because you want the person who harmed you to make it right. But what if they never do? How can you free yourself from the power of the harm that was done to you? Today, we are going to dive deep into what Jesus really says about the power of forgiveness.

One of the most influential relationships you will ever experience in life is your relationship with your father. Your father affects you in ways you can't even understand. Whether you have a good relationship with your father, a strained relationship, or no relationship at all, your father's presence (or absence) shapes who you are in deep and powerful ways. Jesus knew that our relationships with our fathers wouldn't be perfect, but he also knew that each and every one of us has access to a perfect, good and loving heavenly father who adores us and wants the very best for us. So today, remember this: You have a father who loves you, and a family who adores you.

It’s easy to judge other people. It’s easy to spot other people’s flaws. But when it comes to our own flaws and failures, we don’t want to be judged. In this piercing teaching of Jesus, we learn about the danger of judging others and the power of humble self-examination.
