One Funnel Away: Stories

In this episode of the One Funnel Away Stories, I welcomed serial entrepreneur Sharon Horne- Ellstrom. Sharon has been in the entrepreneurial space since she was thirteen years old. Her first business was selling ice to restaurants and evolved to her starting many successful businesses over the years. 

She is the founder of PajammaGramma.com where she helps female entrepreneurs grow and scale their business in ways that won’t kill them. It’s a cause that she doesn’t take lightly. In 2010, Sharon suffered sudden cardiac arrest due to a lifestyle filled with stress and overwhelm. Since then, she had made it her focus to continue her passion in business building but to do so holistically. 

Sharon’s journey is filled with great insight as she shares the power of overcoming challenges, pushing through our limitations, and prioritizing our wellness.

I’m excited to be joined by fellow OFA Challenge alum, Steven Crissien. He is the founder of the digital marketing agency, Crissien Online, and currently transitioning to being a business facilitator. 

Steven’s journey has consisted of quite a few ups and downs. He stumbled into his entrepreneurial journey not exactly sure what he was setting out to accomplish. Steven spent years jumping from strategy to strategy without any being a great fit. 

The One Funnel Away Challenge and all things funnel hacking piqued his interest due to his background in cybersecurity. At that point, he had started his digital marketing agency and began to wonder how he could incorporate funnel building into his marketing game plan.

Struggling to find your audience? Today’s guest, David Needham knows exactly how hard it is to establish a voice that fills a niche. He has had several forays in the entrepreneurial space before finally landing on his current business. 

Despite some initial setbacks, David has stayed committed to his goal in trying to figure out what audience he wants to serve. To supplement his income as he ventured out and tried various business opportunities, David took to driving for Uber. It definitely helped keep his income steady when his other work was unpredictable but he noticed there were glaring issues in the rideshare community. 

David saw that there was a need that he could fill and decided to jump at the idea. He is in the process of putting together a course to support Uber drivers. His goal is to ultimately help them make more money on a per ride basis and to diversify the methods in which they make their income. 

His idea came from the question of how can drivers leverage the unique relationship they have of being a driver and having a passenger and use that time as an opportunity to make more money for themselves. David’s experience with the One Funnel Away Challenge helped him answer just that. He has been able to carve out a unique niche and really find his place in the entrepreneurial world.

Today’s episode of One Funnel Away Stories is certainly an encouraging one. I’m really happy to welcome Asha LeRay, owner of Food Allergy Unboxed. Her story is inspiring and such a great dose of motivation. 

Asha LeRay’s business is helping families that live with food allergies learn how to keep their kids safe and try to live as free as possible despite their medical conditions. It is a mission that hits close to home for her as her daughter lives with life-threatening food allergies. 

It also isn’t her first venture in the entrepreneurial space. She has experimented in various e-commerce businesses as well as online tutoring prior to Food Allergy Unboxed. Though when she realized there was a large community of families just like her she knew she had to utilize her knowledge and share her expertise with the world. 

Selling digital products can be a challenge all on its own. Especially when that product is sharing your very own experiences and education. It takes a high level of confidence to become an authority in any field and from the beginning, Asha knew the importance of her product. 

As she began to really dive into her business, she realized the walls she was hitting were self-imposed. Her lack of growth was directly related to her lack of confidence. That’s when she knew she needed to take action and joined The One Funnel Away Challenge. Shachar Bard is an engineer turned online entrepreneur and marketer from Israel. He got into the world of digital marketing in late 2017. They met, they talked, attended a couple of seminars together, and quickly realized that their skills were highly compatible. Our guest for today’s episode of the One Funnel Away: Stories is Ryan Lester, President of Communication and Design Inc. Operating from a small town in Illinois, Ryan has been helping people tell their stories for over a decade.

Back in 2009, Ryan Lester left the automotive sales industry to help his father open up a design and marketing agency. With an educational background in marketing, the decision to team up with his dad and build a business from scratch seemed pretty exciting.

Their clients were predominately local, but since nobody was providing a similar service in their area, Ryan got an opportunity to explore many different fields of marketing. And aside from building and maintaining an occasional website, it wasn’t before The One Funnel Away Challenge that he really got into the world of digital marketing.

The whole OFA experience helped him rediscover his love for the game. After a long time, the fire he once felt for the job was back, and now, he had all these new tools and techniques he could use to energize his business.

Today’s One Funnel Away story is all about getting over that terrifying feeling when you hit a wall with your business, and you don’t know what to do next. And my guest for this episode is the T-shirt selling guru and creator of Shirt School, Kerry Egeler.

Before starting his own business, Kerry used to work in retail. For six years, he played the corporate ladder game before he lost a management job due to an unfortunate series of events. Some of his employees were doing some shady stuff, and his company ended up laying off a bunch of people. Even though he knew nothing about it, he went down with the ship.

After the whole thing blew over, the entire ordeal nudged him towards taking a slightly different route. Kerry Egeler decided to start selling T-shirts online, and despite not knowing a whole lot about running an online business, he was still pretty successful.

But unfortunately, he ran into a dry spell and couldn’t find the answer to restarting his business.
