Our two newest additions to the Pelotonia board shared their own stories with us for this podcast - Julie Sloat from AEP and Victor Crawford from Cardinal Health. They both have incredible resumes, work for Pelotonia funding partners and are simply wonderful people. 

They are also deeply connected to our work at Pelotonia, both being cancer Survivors themselves, Victor has overcome prostate cancer and Julie beat breast cancer.

If you look at Mary Navarro's life, she’s had different titles: daughter, bank teller, student, wife, mother, Senior Executive Vice President and Pelotonia participant. In 2020 alone, Mary has ridden over 500 miles and has raised more than $37,000 dollars.

Mary's most recent title, though, is patient.

While cancer was in her family throughout her life, her own journey began when she noticed a small spot - no bigger than a fourth of an inch square.

Girls with Gears has been with us from nearly the beginning, launching their Peloton in 2010.

Since then, they’ve raised more than $1 million dollars. We know those funds already have and will continue to have a positive impact on the world.

Steve Miner was drawn to our community in the early days of Pelotonia. Years later, he found himself as a direct beneficiary of the research he was fundraising for - including the newly-created Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology.

Jim Coleman and Bill Zito are two different men from two different backgrounds. Jim has been involved in Pelotonia since day one. Bill's first year was in 2019. Both of them have raised a significant amount of funds for our One Goal.

Professionally, they are in two different worlds - Jim is in construction and Bill is in professional sports. But personally, they both are in the same role.

Brian Gilchrist was a man full of life. While no individual can truly be defined by words, he’s been described with “strength,” “courage,” and “dignity” among others. Those are the same sentiments that would also define his journey with cancer.

On ride day, you may have noticed one rider in particular dressed in a Superman costume. That's Patrick Rogers, a dedicated comic book and sci-fi fan. He even named his daughter Leia after the character in Star Wars. 

While Patrick's costume is an homage to his favorite superhero, he puts on the outfit to honor another “man of steel” in his life.
