    * Decide to take care of yourself emotionally
    * Communicate with love

    With the New Year, people often make resolutions that are ultimately difficult to keep for a variety of reasons. Despite our best intentions and knowledge of what we ought to be doing to live happier, healthier lives, we often find it difficult to stick to our plans for self-care.

    The solution?

    * Tapping into our emotional worlds, and recognition that so many of our choices are not logical ones, but are rather emotionally based.
    * Consideration of the roles emotions play in our lives and how we can learn from them

    * For example, when we act in an unhealthy manner, we may experience feelings of guilt, which may be uncomfortable in the moment, but which can ultimately teach us
    * Likewise, if we are angry about a current state of affairs and we want to change effect some kind of change, anger can be a powerfully motivating force

  • Jan 9th 2018 – Emotional Eating – Why Porn Defiles - One Life Radio Podcast

    Pushing For Porn?
    Sexual addiction coach, Robin Perry Braun talks about porn and how it defiles. Here are some notes from Robin:

    Why do people feel defiled by porn?

    * The wife or girlfriend feels like her sexuality has just been reduced to an image and she is competing with a two dimensional person for her partner’s affection.  Sex is now entertainment and a solution to lust, not an expression of intimacy
    * For the man, he is filling his mind with lewd images that were not designed to inspire intimacy but to heighten arousal apart from a real partner.  Fantasy was never meant to be the source of the satisfaction and he is defiled by the shame he feels that he is unable to connect to a real human.  It also defiles him because he now is guilty of perpetrating and reducing a human being to an object.

    We can attribute some of the onslaught of accusation and exposure of sexual harassment and abuse to the proliferation without restraint of porn in America.  Men are taught as boys that it is their right to lust after a woman’s body and possess it without respect for the human attached to that body.  It is perverted to pedophilia in the same way.  Children become the fodder for a heightened arousal by adults with no regard for the damage it does to the children

    DIY Mashup!
    Autumn Warren, creator of Ether Elixir gives us some of her amazing natural DIY projects to try at home!

    Easy homemade face masks that really work:

    * Honey & banana:

    Leaves skin feeling so soft!  Honey has antibacterial/viral/fungal properties in addition to healing agents.  Banana has potassium that hydrates & brightens (diminishes scars and red spots) skin using vitamins A, B, C & E .  SO EASY & ingredients tend to be most household staples.

    * Pineapple & coconut oil or cream:

    Pineapple is packed with enzymes like bromelain and fruit acids that simultaneously break down dead skin cells and nourish new skin cells.  The pineapple allows the coconut oil to penetrate skin on a deeper level than it could alone – allowing the antimicrobial properties of coconut oil to sink in along with hydration and anti-aging benefits from the ALA alpha lipoic acid reduces wrinkles and encourages skin cell growth.

    Making your own natural cleaners:

    * All-purpose solution:  25% vodka, 25% vinegar, 50% water – essential oil of choice
    * Use microfiber clothes
    * DE for scrubbing
    * Baking soda & vinegar for bubble action

    Making your own skin care products:

    * Lotions – blend high grade oils (coconut oil, avocado oil, olive oil, etc.) with an organic cold-pressed shea butter to lock in moisture.  Commercial lotions are full of fillers, water & alcohol – even natural ones are costly and not enough of the good stuff.
    * Using ether elixir as a natural probiotic toner.
    * Adding niacinamide to witch hazel as a natural way to lock in face moisture.
    * Use old tea in the bath!

  • Jan 5th 2018 – Pet Resolutions – AHA & The F Word – Collagen - One Life Radio Podcast
    Pet Resolutions!

    New Year's Day is the perfect time to make firm resolutions to catch up on all the things you've been putting off - including your pet's needs. Here are a few resolutions from Maura Davies, VP of Communications at the SPCA that you can make to improve your pet's well-being!

    * Microchip
    * Spay/Neuter
    * Preventative Medicine

    The AHA, 2018, and the F Word
    Forty-one years ago the US government, at your behest, brought us the national fat and saturated fat guidelines:

    * No more than 30% of our diet from fat
    * Absolutely no more than 10% of that from saturated fat.

    So, not only have you refused to recognize what the science has shown, you’ve doubled down by telling us we must consume even less than the previously ill-advised 10% saturated fat. You’ve slammed plant-based sources of medium chain fatty acids like coconut oil simply because they are saturated. And you based it on a handful of studies, the most recent of which was over 30 years old. Dr. Mike Fenster gives us more information on this study.
    What's the Deal With Collagen?
    Shawn Wells talks about collagen, what it does in the body, and is it worth supplementing with?

    Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body. Collagen is primarily located in connective and bone tissues. A decrease in collagen production can create a variety of health defects, whereas supplementing with additional collagen can help treat a variety of structural conditions.
