    Holiday Weight Gain
It's the most wonderful time of the year! Ryan Lowery gives us his 7 tips and strategies for preventing holiday weight gain this season!

    7 Tips:

    * Make a plan: Bring a veggie dish to the holiday dinner and eat a healthy portion of it. If wine is your weakness, bring some seltzer water, or other healthy beverage to sip.
    * Eat to savor: Change the way you eat. Research shows conscious or mindful eating aids weight loss.
    * Be in control: Take control of what you eat. Don’t give in to pressure to have a second serving or both kinds of pie.
    * Eat like a kid: Don’t be afraid to play with your food. Slow down and enjoy the experience one forkful at a time. You’ll eat slower and eat less. Portion control is your friend.
    * Earn your food: Upping your physical activity during the holidays is the most effective weight control strategy, according to the Calorie Control Council. If you can’t make it to the gym, take a walk, rake some leaves, vacuum the living room, or clean out the garage.
    * Don’t be too hard on yourself: Beating yourself up for asking for a second scoop of ice cream can make you fall off the caloric wagon. Instead, focus on what you did right and congratulate yourself on skipping that third glass of wine.
    * Get some sleep: People tend to let their sleep routines go haywire over the holidays. Research shows those who keep a regular sleep schedule have lower body fat than those who don’t. So don’t be afraid to say goodnight to those old friends and catch some Z’s.

    Time to kick some butt!
Daniel Tague discusses the true value of martial arts.

    * What do you mean by the true value of martial arts?

    * It's not just about leaning to fight, it’s about leaning self-discipline, control of body and mind, being part of a community, building good habits, and leaning about yourself.

    * What are some common misconceptions of martial arts?

    * It’s all about fighting
    * You will want to get in more fights
    * It is only for people that are responsible and you would not want a violent person taking it because it would give them more tools to hurt people.

    * What is the best style to learn?

    * Doesn’t matter, it’s about what I talked about before. As long as you are leaning self-discipline and growing as a person.
    * That being said, one on one the best is jujitsu and for real life stand up skills Krav Maga. Outside of those you just need to fine a style that fits you.

Miriam Kalamian is back to talk about her amazing book "Keto For Cancer". Tune in to find out how a high fat, low carb diet is changing lives everywhere.

The holidays are coming! Robin Perry Braun talks about the holiday suicide myth.

    * Isn’t suicide more prevalent around holidays?• Statistics actually say suicide is lowest in December of any other month.
    • We project that people who don’t have family have their sadness more emphasized which would make them more suicidal
    • Because people tend to be more focused on sentimentality, family and traditions, these suicides more than likely impact the families greater during the holidays and create more time based traumatic memories because of how they impact rituals and traditions. There are more triggers to these memories.
    * Why do people think of suicide?
    • Problems seem overwhelming
    • Suicidal people have “blinders” on which cause them to focus on the emotional pain caused by the problem
    • Their aim is rid themselves of the pain
    • Since they feel hopeless and helpless, they assume they are worthless
    • The only answer they have is to end the emotional pain by ending their life
    * Why do you think suicide is actually the lowest?
The concept of collective consciousness says we have the power to corporately raise or lower the frequency around us. During the holidays, for the most part, people overall are happier and the collective frequency is higher (speaking of US and countries that celebrate Christmas, Hanukah etc.)

  • Nov 17th 2017 – Safe Cookware – Ayahuasca - One Life Radio Podcast
Are you exposing your family to toxic fumes from non-stick cookware? If you love cooking, one of your favorite kitchen items is probably your non-stick cookware. If you use your non-stick pots and pans on a daily basis, you may unknowingly be exposing your family to hidden dangers. That's because non-stick cookware is made using a carcinogenic chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which starts emitting toxic fumes that you inhale every time you cook with a non-stick pot or pan! At high temperatures, the coating of non-stick cookware will also break down into a chemical warfare agent known as PFIB, and a chemical analog of the WWII nerve gas phosgene. Your best friend in the kitchen may actually be your family's worst health enemy. It only takes 5 minutes for non-stick cookware to emit at least six toxic gases.

How dangerous is PFOA to your health? What other toxic gases are released when you use non-stick cookware? Stephanie Toups talks about the dangers of toxic fumes and the best alternatives.

Can Ayahuasca stimulate neurogenesis? Shawn Wells talks about the ritualistic psychotropic plant tea and how it is being used for depression.

"Ayahuasca is a psychotropic plant tea most commonly used for ritual purposes in the Amazon. However, recently there have been reports that the primary plant species of this tea “Banisteriopsis caapi” may offer a vast range of therapeutic effects for varying populations. This sparked an immense amount of research on the topic. Two years ago, one of the first clinical studies demonstrated that one dose of Ayahuasca significantly improved depressive symptoms in previously non responsive patients. While recently, another study came out reporting that the primary alkaloids present in Ayahuasca may stimulate neurogenesis."

Read more about the study here.

    * What is Ayahuasca?
    * What is it made of and how does it work?

  • Nov 15th 2017 – Sleep and Alzheimers – Power Lifting – Keto - One Life Radio Podcast
    Sleep loss and Alzheimers?
Ryan Lowery talks about the direct link between a good night's rest and our long term memory. Many people with Alzheimer's experience changes in their sleep patterns. Scientists do not completely understand why this happens. As with changes in memory and behavior, sleep changes somehow result from the impact of Alzheimer's on the brain. Many older adults without dementia also notice changes in their sleep, but these disturbances occur more frequently and tend to be more severe in Alzheimer's.
There is evidence that sleep changes are more common in later stages of the disease, but some studies have also found them in early stages.

  • Nov 14th 2017 – Sugar – Gratitude – Abandonment - One Life Radio Podcast
Today we talk with Shana Gallagher about the Might Earth campaign #CleanItUpTyson and address the issues with big farming and the food industry.

Robin Perry Braun talks about gratitude and how we can give thank these upcoming holiday's
    What is abandonment?
Dr. Richard Enander talks about Abandonment and Learning to Let Go.

Abandonments happen all the time, yet they can have a formative impact on our mood and sense of self. They effect our mood, in that we might become angry and/or sad about our loss, and they effect our sense of self, or our identity, in that they can have us questioning our value in the world.

    * Abandonments can take on many forms – our own romantic breakups, divorce (whether our own or that of our parents), those we love passing away
    * Information bias: We know our thoughts much better than we can possibly know the ideas/intentions of others, so it is easier for us to ascribe blame to ourselves
    * Letting go and moving on:
    * Recognizing this information bias, and realizing that we can’t possibly fully understand the motivations of others, motivations which by and large may have nothing to actually do with us.
    * Realizing our real value, and that it is intrinsic and not dependent on what others think about us. This can lead to improved self-care.

    Questions

    * Why do abandonments hurt so bad?
    * How is it that we move on?

  • Nov 13th 2017 – Sugar – Fasting – Chakras - One Life Radio Podcast
Is there a direct link between sugar intake and the rise of obesity?
In 1900, the average yearly sugar intake was 11 pounds per person. It’s now 96 pounds per person in North America, and as high as 140 pounds per person in the U.S. In contrast, it’s only 38 pounds per person per year in Asia. Follow the sugar trail to the exploding U.S. childhood obesity epidemic which has grown tenfold in 40 years from 1975 to 2016!

Research published in The Lancet  documents the disturbing growth of child obesity, which portends a rise in chronic diseases such as diabetes as well as heart disease and other complications. In addition, statistics recently released by the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics show overall U.S. obesity rates since Ronald Reagan won the presidency have almost tripled!

“For the first time, we’re seeing people who are both obese and malnourished at the same time thanks to the empty calories provided by sugar which has become a staple of the Standard American Diet,” says board certified internist Jacob Teitelbaum, MD, author of The Complete Guide to Beating Sugar Addiction.

Join us as Dr. Teitelbaum talks about sugars and artificial sweeteners and how they are harming the population.

Dr. Brad Dieter talks fasting and longevity.
    How's your energy?
Autumn Warren talks chakras and ways to reset our chakras when they fall out of balance. The seven chakras are the centers in our bodies in which energy flows through.

Blocked energy in our seven chakras can often lead to illness, so it's important to understand what each chakra represents and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely.
